It’sanexcitingtimeforTheWisconsinCreditUnionFoundation,and2023wasnoexception!Overthepastyearourimpact hascontinuedtogrow;wedistributedachart-topping$135,500ingrants,$11,000inscholarships,andlaunchedournew InclusionFundGranthelpingcreditunionsreachunservedandunrepresentedcommunitiesinWisconsin.AsThe Foundationbeginsitsseventeenthyear,it’salsoworthcelebratingthatwehavenowprovidednearly$1.8millionin financialeducation,grants,scholarships,anddisasterassistancesinceourinception,includingover100grantstopromote thewellnessofcreditunionsandthecommunitiestheyserve—whatamilestone!

TheFoundation,inpartnershipwithAmerica’sCredit UnionsandCUDifference,facilitatedtheeighthyear ofFiCEP,whichhelpedanadditional23participants earntheirCertifiedCreditUnionFinancialCounselor (CCUFC)designation,andmorethan23recertified.
Over250creditunionprofessionals,representing morethan50creditunions,haveparticipatedin FiCEPtodate.TheFoundationfinanciallysupports theFiCEPprogramandsignificantlydefraysthecost ofthisprogramforourcreditunions.

TheFoundationhaspartneredwiththeRichard MylesJohnsonFoundationtoofferBiteofReality® freeforallofourmembercreditunions.Thisisan app-based,livesimulationforteensthatteaches themaboutreallifefinancialdecisions.

ThegrantsreachtheseareaswithassistancefromtheNationalCreditUnionFoundation throughCUAid.In2023,$2,500wasdonatedtoCUAidbyTheWisconsinCreditUnion Foundation.
Overthelastseveralyears,reliefhasbeensenttoCUAidtoassistwiththecrisisinUkraine, wildfiresinwesternUnitedStates,hurricanesinthesoutheasternUnitedStates,tornadorelief intheMidwest,andmuchmore.

TheDifferenceGrantsareusedtohelpcreditunionsofallsizesinthecreationofinnovativeservicesandprograms thatcouldofferaffordablealternativestohigh-costfinancialproductsandservices,reducedependencyonpredatory financialproviders,increasefinancialliteracyandempowerment,improvepersonalfinancialmanagement,create avenuestopersonalfinancialstability,andimprovefinancialandeconomicwell-beingofWisconsincommunities.
