It’sanexcitingtimeforTheWisconsinCreditUnionFoundation,and2023wasnoexception!Overthepastyearourimpact hascontinuedtogrow;wedistributedachart-topping$135,500ingrants,$11,000inscholarships,andlaunchedournew InclusionFundGranthelpingcreditunionsreachunservedandunrepresentedcommunitiesinWisconsin.AsThe Foundationbeginsitsseventeenthyear,it’salsoworthcelebratingthatwehavenowprovidednearly$1.8millionin financialeducation,grants,scholarships,anddisasterassistancesinceourinception,includingover100grantstopromote thewellnessofcreditunionsandthecommunitiestheyserve—whatamilestone!

Establishedin2007,TheWisconsinCreditUnion Foundation(TheFoundation)isa501(c)(3)non-profit organizationthatpromotesthewellnessofcreditunions andthecommunitiestheyserve.

TheFoundation'sresourcesareusedtopromotecredit uniondevelopment,helpeducatecreditunionstaffand volunteers,supportprogrammingtoenhancefinancial literacy,andassistthecreditunionsystemintimesof need.

FiCEP

TheFoundation,inpartnershipwithAmerica’sCredit UnionsandCUDifference,facilitatedtheeighthyear ofFiCEP,whichhelpedanadditional23participants earntheirCertifiedCreditUnionFinancialCounselor (CCUFC)designation,andmorethan23recertified.

Over250creditunionprofessionals,representing morethan50creditunions,haveparticipatedin FiCEPtodate.TheFoundationfinanciallysupports theFiCEPprogramandsignificantlydefraysthecost ofthisprogramforourcreditunions.

BiteofReality®

TheFoundationhaspartneredwiththeRichard MylesJohnsonFoundationtoofferBiteofReality® freeforallofourmembercreditunions.Thisisan app-based,livesimulationforteensthatteaches themaboutreallifefinancialdecisions.

TruStagegenerouslysupportsBiteofReality®sothat allWisconsin’screditunionscanprovidethis programtotheirlocalschooldistricts,atnocost, andhelptofulfilltheirfinancialeducation requirements.

Forfouryears,TheFoundationhasproudlysponsored ExploringWhy™workshopsforallofWisconsin’scredit unions.Thisfull-day,experientiallearningprogramwas createdbytheNationalCreditUnionFoundationto demonstratetocreditunionemployeesandvolunteers theCreditUnionDifferenceandlearnbetterwaysto servecreditunionmembersandthecommunity.

TheFoundationisproudtosupportthemovementwithdisasterrelieffunds,socreditunions cancontinuetoservetheirmembersandcommunitiesintheirtimeofextremeneed.

ThegrantsreachtheseareaswithassistancefromtheNationalCreditUnionFoundation throughCUAid.In2023,$2,500wasdonatedtoCUAidbyTheWisconsinCreditUnion Foundation.

Overthelastseveralyears,reliefhasbeensenttoCUAidtoassistwiththecrisisinUkraine, wildfiresinwesternUnitedStates,hurricanesinthesoutheasternUnitedStates,tornadorelief intheMidwest,andmuchmore.

Wisconsincreditunionsinneedofsupportfortechnologyandoperationsrelatedexpenses,andupgradestothecredit union’soperationsthatwillmeasurablyassisttheirabilitytoservetheirmembers,areencouragedtoapplyforthis grant.Preferencegiventocreditunionsunder$100millioninassets.

TheDifferenceGrants

TheDifferenceGrantsareusedtohelpcreditunionsofallsizesinthecreationofinnovativeservicesandprograms thatcouldofferaffordablealternativestohigh-costfinancialproductsandservices,reducedependencyonpredatory financialproviders,increasefinancialliteracyandempowerment,improvepersonalfinancialmanagement,create avenuestopersonalfinancialstability,andimprovefinancialandeconomicwell-beingofWisconsincommunities.

Forthefirsttime,in2023,TheFoundationisproudtosupportcreditunionsintheirmissiontoreachunservedand unrepresentedcommunitiesinWisconsinthatstruggletobeservedbytraditionalfinancialservices.

ThisgrantwasintroducedtoconnectcreditunionswiththeresourcesthatareofferedbyCooperaConsultingto implementprogramsandservicesformulti-culturalmarketsandistargetedtowardmidsizecreditunionsin Wisconsin.
