And the winner is... WESTVIEW STUDENT COUNCIL There is something special about Student Council elections held on Halloween. The campus atmosphere is already feeling festive. In the weeks leading up to Halloween, Middle School students campaigned on campus, prepared speeches for election day, and talked up their candidacies to students in the 1830 building. With the chilly weather this year, speeches were held indoors in Largent Hall. We are so proud of all our candidates who participated in a chance to be part of Westview Student Council. This year's candidates represented themselves and our school with confidence, poise, and fun in front of the entire building. Charlie Chaplin (Patrick) won for vice president with a campaign speech sharing he is "smart, cool, and a good role model." Mario (Cason) had the most votes for secretary with the winning slogan: "If the best secretary is what you're chasin', grab a ballot and vote for Cason!" Ian layed out his top six reasons, "Why Ian for Treasurer?" The numbers aligned, and the student votes were in his favor. Congratulations to Mikah for winning the presidency. His speech won over the upper school with familiar students' first language. He spoke of a healthy balance between work and fun and shared, "If there's one thing I love, it's seeing my homies happy." He talked about afterschool hangouts and encouraged cooperation in learning among students, "Homies help Homies." He concluded his winning speech with the metaphor that with him as president, Westview will be "a massive cupcake for us to eat and enjoy!" Strong work, Student Council!
