PROJECT DESCRIPTION

The new mixed-use student housing facility features a covered breezewaythat runs through the ground level of the building allowing the public to access the 28,000 SF of retail space.

The luxury apartment complex spans floors 5 through 9. Residents have the option to choose from one-, two-, or three-bedroom floor plans. Units on the fifth floor feature private terraces in addition to eight premium units that are fully furnished with a pool table and upgraded appliances.

The Standard at Coral Gables provides upscale amenities to its residents.These include a coffee bar and computer labs on the ground floor; a club room with study lounges, game room, fitness center, and pool and pool deck with fire pits and grills located on the fifth floor; and a public terrace and dog wash station on the sixth floor. The 163,537 SF parking garage is located on floors 2, 3 and 4 and houses eight electric car charging stations, 366 parking stalls, and 173 bicycle stalls.

PROJECT DESCRIPTION

Located on the tight corner of Minorca Avenue and Salzedo Street on the outskirts of downtown Coral Gables, Florida, the new Public Safety Building functions as the headquarters for the City's Police and Fire Departments. At 116,000 SF, the functionality of this fivestory, Category 5 Hurricane Hardened municipal facility serves a primary purpose: resident safety. The new Public Safety Building also includes a 74,000 SF, 160-stall parking garage.

Each floor serves a specific purpose and features state-of-the-art equipment and facilities. Some of these features include:

BROWARD COUNTY CONVENTION CENTER & HOTEL

Since January 2010, Weitz has been serving as Broward County’s Representative, overseeing both the construction of the New Family Courthouse and the Convention Center expansion. From schematic design all the way through project completion, Weitz has represented the County on these large and complex projects.

Weitz is working with five other key project stakeholders as the owner’s representative to deliver the design-build Broward County Convention Center expansion project, coming in at an estimated cost of $1.1+ Billion When complete in Q4 2025, the expanded convention center will boast more than 1.2 million square feet of event space (including 350,000 square feet of contiguous exhibition space), a new 65,000-square-foot waterfront ballroom, the latest in new technology, new dining concepts, enhanced water taxi access, and an iconic waterfront plaza with public access. The hotel will also add more than 73,000 square feet of meeting space, an 11,000-square-foot spa and fitness center and expanded entertainment, retail, and dining spaces for visitors and residents to enjoy. The expansion will also include an 800-room, fourdiamond Omni Hotel on the property.

PROJECT DESCRIPTION

With its design and County Business Enterprise (CBE) partners, The Weitz Company served as Owner's Representative to Broward County for the construction of the new, 21-story courthouse. The 693,000 SF building includes 45 full-size courtrooms, 12 smaller courtrooms, 18 hearing rooms, and staff and support spaces. The project also includes a pedestrian bridge for prisoners, judges, and other people moving between the courthouse and parking garage connector on the second floor. The building features high-quality, high-efficiency mechanical, electrical and plumbing (MEP) systems; multiple elevators; electronic court features with wi-fi throughout; and digitized Clerk of the Court Facilities. This state-of-the-art facility achieved LEED Gold certification.

PROJECT DESCRIPTION

This 7-level parking garage was built on a constrained site in the middle of Miami Dade College’s Wolfson Campus in downtown Miami, Florida. The garage was built with tilt-up construction using architectural precast concrete fabricated off site. This garage was designed to accommodate 597 vehicles. Part of the first floor and all of the second floor is reserved parking for employees of the Federal Bureau of Prisons, who will have their own secure entrance. The remainder of the garage will be used bythe College.

Architectural highlights include large perforated aluminum panels in the share of the Miami Dade College logo hung from the south elevation. On the north and east elevations, the logo is cast in concrete and painted blue.

Situated on a very tight site near the river in Ft. Lauderdale, this 31-story structure sets the standard for urban living. The facility features a 550,140 SF luxury residential tower that includes 315 units, a 220,000 SF parking structure to accommodate 509 vehicles, and a 39,367 SF Recreation Center featuring a large common area with pool, spa and fitness center.

Weitz provided 12 months of preconstruction services and was successful at reducing the owner’s initial budget by several million dollars even with various scope additions.

During the past 30 years, Weitz has managed to renovate and revitalize a significant portion of the resort property. PROJECT DESCRIPTION

The Royal Poinciana Playhouse project on Palm Beach consists of the renovation and expansion of the existing multilevel playhouse along with associated sitework, hardscapes and seawall. The project includes approximately 36,000 SF of renovations and 7,600 SF of additions.

The scope of work also includes upgrades to the exterior shell of the building and redevelopment of exterior terrace spaces and restaurant patio deck that overlooks the intra-coastal.

Situated in the heart of downtown West Palm Beach, this 8 story urban living community features 149 condominium units, a lobby, club room, fitness center, spa and rooftop swimming pool. The neighboring public high school, private residences, a major retail facility and performing arts center presented numerous coordination challenges for on site crews. To assure a smooth progression, Weitz staff prepared a proactive and comprehensive plan that addressed safety, protection of adjacent buildings, and logistic items such as traffic control, material and equipment deliveries, hoisting and worker parking. In order to construct two levels of underground parking, 60-80 foot deep sheet piles were installed 20 feet from the existing structure.

Utilizing a design-build delivery, the project was broken out into 12 phases, completed over an 18-month schedule.

Features of the expansion include: a new 278-stall, 94,454 squarefoot valet parking garage to alleviate congestion in and around the main parking garage; the expansion of the Dreyfoos Hall Lobby to elevate the experience of show-goers; upgrades to the west drop-off canopy, Cohen Pavilion canopy and addition of the new valet canopy; colorful water features and expansive landscape on the pedestrian-friendly plaza; an interconnected ramp up to the fourth floor is the main parking garage with access to Okeechobee Boulevard; new screening and signage on the existing main parking garage; and a new signage plaza at the southwest corner of the property with monument lenticular 3D sign to draw attention to upcoming events.

Located along Museum Road in Gainesville, Florida, the University of Florida’s New Undergraduate Residential Complex with Honors College is intended to promote a sense of community amongst students and Honors program staff.

This state-of-the-art facility features four residential halls, 5-6 stories each, and a one-story common space building to create the five building complex. The residential buildings house a combination of single and double suites, including ADA suites, for a total of 1,415 beds (825 units).

The residential complex also includes academic support spaces, faculty offices, reading room, maker studio, gaming lounge, ensemble practice room, art studio, mindfulness/meditation suite, Great Lawn with outdoor amenities, and Great Hall with convertible space for a 145-seat lecture hall, 80-seat lounge, 70seat cocktail reception, or 112-seat banquet event.

Inside, the 280,000 square feet of Class A office space includes amenities like fitness centers, a cafeteria, and electric vehicle charging stations, emphasizing adaptability with an access floor system and elegant partitions. At its core lies a striking interior atrium with conference rooms and stairs, housing a cutting-edge Tier III data center.

Adjacent to the office space is a three-level parking structure integrating solar panels and sustainable energy practices. Located in the heart of Florida Atlantic University’s Boca Raton campus, the new 616-bed, 7-story, 185,920 SF student housing facility replaces the 94-bed Algonquin Hall, which was originally built in 1965. The project features two- and four-bedroom style units. The concrete structure houses 183 units with a total of 616 beds.

The ground floor features common space with a kitchen accessible to all dormitory residents and an academic advising, learning and career center called the Get Wise Facility, which is accessible to all University students. The project also includes study lounges and laundry facilities.
