WHS Ex-Students Association honors alumni accomplishments By ANDREW BRANCA Daily Light Staff Writer

Memories were shared and lives were honored during the annual Waxahachie High School Ex-Student Association Luncheon Saturday. Several former students and

a teacher were honored for their impact they made in the world through their careers or volunteer work. The first group of awards were for the Who’s Who awards. The Who’s Who award recognizes accomplishment that alumi have made in their career field. The inductees included

Stanley Jeter, 1960 graduate, Lynn Lasswell III, 1960 graduate, and Glenn Perryman, 1965 graduate. Jeter worked in the filed of Christian mission and media starting his career at KGEI in California, which broadcasted to several countries. He worked in the Peace Corps See Honors, Page 12A

Richard Catena is being remembered by his friends, family members and the greater Ellis County community as a person dedicated to serving others. Catena served as a volunteer firefighter with the Red Oak, Ovilla and Glenn Heights fire departments and as an EMT with several private EMS providers in the Dallas-Fort Worth area. Catena, 57, lost his life in a head-on collision on Sept. 30 on Farm-to-Market Road 1446, where See Catena, Page 13A

WHS inducts new Hall of Fame class BY KHRIS MARION SPORTS EDITOR

The 19 men singled out for the honor of induction into the Waxahachie High School Hall of Fame reflected the honor back to their coaches, teammates and the community of Waxahachie. Tommy Winn, Bill Midkiff, Montae Reagor, John Waxahachie’s 1982-1983 state 4A champion basketball team was inducted into the 2015 Rodgers, Scott Dorsett class of the WHS Athletic Hall of Fame Thursday night.
