CAMP MANAGER (FIXED TERM CONTRACT)

The Alpine Group is a family-owned tourism business based in Wanaka, operating brands including Minaret Station, Alpine Helicopters, Southern Lakes Heliski and Southern Lakes Helibike.

We are looking for an experienced, well presented, and hardworking professional to join our team in a fulltime position. The position will be working primarily at Minaret Station Alpine Lodge, in front of house and back of house duties. The Alpine Lodge is New Zealand’s most remote luxury lodge, accessible only by helicopter.

The role is diverse and requires a candidate with proven hospitality experience, but more importantly a can-do attitude. As well as experience in food and beverage, they will take pride in general housekeeping duties.

The successful applicant will have exceptional people skills, as well as an af nity and understanding of New Zealand’s outdoors and high country. They will need to show initiative and be prepared to roll their sleeves up as part of a small team.

The ability to relate well to guests is paramount, as is the ability to ensure that guests experiences at Minaret Station are world class.

WAI Wānaka are a charitable trust whose purpose is to accelerate local action for our fresh water. We are working together to empower communities to understand their water, their environment, and their impact so that we can achieve our common goals for healthy ecosystems and community wellbeing.

WAI started as a group of passionate volunteers in 2016 and are now a bustling workplace of more than 30 people. All of us care deeply about the work we do, collaborating and connecting with others and contributing to our larger WAI vision. We are governed by a Board of voluntary Trustees who are looking to bring diversity to its Board while providing a self-development opportunity to a future environmental leader.

The Board Observer Role

This is a voluntary role, for a term of 12 months.

It would suit a driven individual in the early stages of their career who is looking to gain Board exposure and learn about the role of governance in the environmental non-profit sector.

You will participate in all aspects of WAI Wānaka board work without voting rights. This includes attending a 2.5 hour Board of Trustees meeting in Wānaka every 6 weeks and completing pre-reading from the board pack in preparation.

You will be exposed to issues confronting WAI Wānaka and the wider environmental not-for-profit sector, the fundamental principles of the work and function of boards, the role and responsibilities of board members and other governance priorities.

About You?

This opportunity is open to any person from the environmental, water, science and/ or management fields who is looking for a chance to progress into a governance role. Along with energy and a passion for improving the environment, you will bring insight from your knowledge and experiences in some of the following areas:

•Environmental policy, conservation and ecology

•Water and/or environmental management

•Interests in the farming, agriculture and /or tourism industries

•Community – led environmental work

•Local and central government relationships

•Te Tiriti o Waitangi, treaty partnerships and relationships and Te Ao Māori, tikanga principles and Matauranga Māori.
