Putting into action the siren used to warn the people of an impending air raid during the war years
In the past few days Malta hosted two very important activities of great significance both local and international. It first organised the celebrations marking the 75th Anniversary of the awarding of the George Cross to the Maltese islands, and then, over two days on behalf of the European Union it hosted the fourth high-level Our Ocean Conference that focused on key ocean issues of our time.
A most interesting guest at the George Cross commemoration was 96-year-old Allan Scott, one of the last surviving Spitfire pilots to have fought over Malta in World War II, seen meeting the Prime Minister
On both occasions last week’s activities in Malta were held in the presence of Prince Charles, the Prince of Wales (seen left) being greeted by the Prime Minister’s family, his wife Michelle and twins Etoile and Soleil. The Our Ocean Conference was also attended by over 40 ministers leaders from more than 100 countries, including Prince Albert of Monaco, representatives from the EU Commission and former US Secretary of State, John Kerry.
