Council Receives Community Centre Design

On Tuesday March 22, Town Council received information regarding the new community centre. Presentations were made outlining the architectural designs, the construction timeline, and how the facility would be financed. The centre is projected to cost $36.2 million. Its main components consist of two ice pads, a double gymnasium, and some smaller multi-purpose spaces. The primary arena will also include a walking track and seating for 1000 people.

DSBN MAY RENAME E.W. FARR MEMORIAL SCHOOL by VOICE STAFF
On March 8, the District School Board of Niagara voted to establish a committee to consider a number of potential names for the soon-to-be expanded E.W Farr Memorial School, which will be absorbing students from Pelham Centre in 2017.

Unusual Winter Weather Puts Pelham Peaches in Jeopardy by ZACH JUNKIN The VOICE
Erratic weather patterns may have all but eliminated the peach crop in Pelham this year, as early numbers from the Tender Fruit Alert program place survival rates at 6%, well below last year’s figures. By comparison, the rest of the Niagara Region is looking at a 65%-75% rate of bud survival.
