2016 marks the fifth year of the annual 7 Days in May cycling event, where participants spend 7 days riding around Lake Ontario in order to raise awareness for pancreatic cancer and provide research funding to help find a cure. In preparation for the main event scheduled to begin May 28, Pastor Mathew Bradbury of Pelham Friends Church in Fonthill will be hosting the third annual family friendly ride on May 7. Called 7 K’s in May, the ride is meant to be a shorter, fun ride for the many dedicated supporters who may be unable to participate in the main event, but who still want to help make a difference.

A car slammed into a home on Canboro Road in the early morning hours of March 18th, the day after St. Patrick's Day.
by ZACH JUNKIN The VOICE
In the early morning hours of March 18, the day after St. Patrick’s Day, residents of a normally quiet section of Canboro Road just West of Church Street were abruptly awakened when an automobile slammed into a home along that route. Neighbor Henry Nieuwold heard the commotion and rushed to his front window. He knew something was amiss when he spotted car parts in his front yard. “It was about 3:30 in the morning, when a big crash woke me up,” he said. “I came to the window and I saw a tire in my front yard. So I got dressed and came
outside, and as soon as I stepped out, somebody was in my yard and started to run away. So I went after him, and we ran up Church Street, and I brought him back. And that’s when I noticed what had happened.”
