This week in baseball BY MELISSA WELLS

The Pelham Medical Associates Mosquito Rep team had a great home match against the Binbrook Bisons, taking the game 247. Mitchell Morden got his pitching debut and closed out the win. The bats were on fire, with home runs hit by Finn Mitchell-Moore, Lucas Grant and Matthew Oakes. Another beautiful pop-fly catch was made by third baseman Alex Sawchuck. Wednesday’s ballgame saw the Willowbrook Nurseries Pelham Panthers beat the St.Catharines Giants 7-0. The team’s convincing win witnessed triples hit by Connor Denbak and Zach Perna. Nathan Denbak showed his speed with a double play in the 4th. Ryan Harold pitched two flawless innings. Mike Dykstra also pitched well and led the team in RBI’s. Cade Royer had a strong offensive game going 3 for 4 at bat. Later that week...what a game! The Willowbrook Nurseries Pelham Pan-
thers came back from a 3 run deficit in the last inning to tie Beamsville’s Campden Firefighters Association ( 5-5). The action packed game saw a most impressive triple play in the top of the 6th with bases loaded. The pitcher Micheal Dykstra caught the line drive for the first out then threw the ball to third to Cole Langendoen to double off the runner then tagged the runner coming from second. Earlier in the second inning a double play was made by Nathan Denbak who threw a pass ball to first and tagged out the runner coming from third. Contributing to the excitement was Ryan Harold’s pitching two scoreless innings for the second game in a row. Go Panthers Go! The Miller Restoration Peewee Rep team saw lots of action against the Niagara Falls Majors this week, with three games in a row against the tough team. Excellent pitching by Brendan Grenville held the Falls to a 4-2 win on Tuesday night, with Wyatt Gibson gunning down the final out from right

WRAP-UP continued from Page 4 Place, helping our Lions at their events and visiting other clubs to promote fun and friendship. them in their neighbourhood? Additionally we would be providing needed employment to local and international public artists including those based in Spain, California, Colorado, Texas, Philadelphia, Toronto, Ottawa, Calgary, London and
Burlington. Do you think most of them know where Fonthill is? How about Pelham? But that’s not our problem. The Mayor and his Council have money to spend and debts to run up, and the artists are more than happy to take our money. The best part is that if Pelham cannot pay for the Gateway art features, the Region of Niagara will probably be there to bail us out. At the June 22 Corporate Services Committee meeting, the Region essentially co-signed the mayor’s $36,200,000 loan. If we cannot pay, then the Region of Niagara will. So let’s spend, spend, spend, because it’s someone else’s money. T. Cole Pelham

all pitched well. Horton got the start striking out three over two innings of work. Heaslip continued to be the Panthers closer retiring the side in the final inning for the save. Harrington and Jason Sviergula both recorded doubles while Horton went 2-for-2 with a walk. Rookie ball callup Austin Wilson went 1-for-2 with a walk in his mosquito debut while his teammate Jaxon Vanderlip had three walks and came around to score all three times. Hailey Whiteley continued to have a great eye at the plate walking three times and scoring twice.
