Editor’s Note No t a d e l o s E d i t o r e s Summer is finally here! We have heard the saying, “Summer is the month of the flowers,” however due to the intense heat that we are experiencing, we see our hills slowly starting to turn brown. Summertime is a joyful time for so many reasons. There’s the sense of vacation, that feeling of freedom we remember so fondly from our childhoods. There’s the warm weather, sunshine, early mornings and cool, late evenings. Seriously, there’s nothing wrong with summer, except the unfortunate fact that sooner or later, it has to end.

Since my two grandkids are on vacation, they are spending more time at my home. I am really happy to have them here, even when they turn a room into a complete mess in just a matter of minutes.

In this issue, we are giving you incredible advice in the following article: “Great advice to lose weight and keep it off.”

El Verano está finalmente aquí! Hemos escuchado el dicho, “El verano es el mes de las flores,” sin embargo, debido al intenso calor que estamos experimentando, vemos nuestras colinas lentamente comenzando a secarse. El verano es un momento alegre por muchas razones. Existe la sensación de vacaciones, esa sensación de libertad que recordamos con mucho cariño de nuestra infancia. Hay el clima cálido, el sol brillante, frías mañanas y cálidas tardes al anochecer. Seriamente, no hay nada de malo con el verano, excepto el hecho lamentable de que tarde o temprano, tiene que terminar.

Siendo que mis dos nietos están de vacaciones, ellos pasan más tiempo en mi casa. Estoy realmente feliz de tenerlos aquí conmigo, aún cuando convierten su habitación en un desastre en cuestión de minutos.

School Readiness For Boys By: Janet Allison Is He Ready for School?

Parents of 4, 5 and 6 year olds begin to wonder about first grade readiness: Is he ready for school? How is he ever going to be able to behave in school? He can’t sit still!

It is important to think about what schools are asking of children. The pace of education has increased.

However, our brain structure and development has not changed since our brains evolved when we were hunters and gatherers.

What are we asking our children to do that they don’t actually have the brain structure and development yet to do?

When you observe kindergartners or first graders, the boys are typically 1 to 1.5 years behind the girls in their fine motor development, their ability to sit still, and their ability to follow directions.

Send him to school as late as possible! That way, he’ll be the oldest in his class. This will benefit him through all the years of school An extra year of kindergarten is advisable. A rising trend in America, and more established in Europe, are outdoor kindergartens. This gives boys, especially, an opportunity to be outside, to be physical, learning in a way that suits him much more. It is better than teacher (93% chance she is female) saying, Here you are in the classroom, it’s time to sit still and learn.

Another part of development is the language areas of his brain. They are slower to develop than girls.

So, while there are girls in first grade who can write complete stories, follow sequences, and read, your boy may not be ready to read until second or third grade.

Of course, there are boys that read when they are 3 or 4, each child is different. But overall, trying to teach a 5 year-old boy to read is like teaching a 3.5 year-old to read! Can you image?! Developmentally his brain is not yet ready to process language, track words across a page, and be able to match sounds and symbols.

In school, we’re asking too much, too early, of many of our boys.

Having boys enter school before they are developmentally ready and attempting to teach them to read before they are ready, sets them up for failure from the beginning. In first grade, they feel school isn’t for them, they see the girls succeeding where they can’t - yet.

What are their alternatives to this stress? They become withdrawn. Or they get even more rambunctious, perhaps becoming the class clown because somehow they have to act out, to process what they’re feeling.

We see this pattern of failure manifest at the other end of school, too. Fewer males are graduating from high school than ever before. And even in college, here in America, only about 44% of the college population is male. The males that do go to college are less likely than their female counterparts to finish their degree program.

We’re setting them up for failure by putting them in school too soon.

10 Ways to Bring out his Best at School: - Boys need to move. If he travels in a car or rides the bus to school, he needs to move before he enters the classroom.

- Arrive early and jump rope, play basketball, run around the block.

- Recess. While schools are shortening recess, it’s being shown that academic performance actually increases with more movement.

- Active learning. Lessons designed with an active learning component builds social relationships and increases memory retention.

- Water. Frequent sips of water reduce stress and hydrate the body and brain.

- Relevance. Boys want their learning to matter and they want to know how to apply it and how it will impact the world.

- Allow gross. Boys express themselves with different subject matter. We need to make blood and guts as acceptable as unicorns and flowers.

- Free time. The kind of free time you remember when summer days seemed to stretch endlessly because there was nothing on the schedule. Be sure to schedule in some quiet, free play time every day. He needs time to process his day.

- Nature. Nature is the antidote to all the stress of school, media, family dynamics, and just simply growing up. Time in nature is essential to healthy bodies and minds.

¿Está listo para la Escuela?

Los padres de niños de 4, 5 y 6 años de edad comienzan a preguntarse acerca de la preparación del Grado Primero: ¿Está listo para la escuela? ¿Cómo va a ser capaz de comportarse en la escuela? Todavía no puede sentarse y permanecer quieto.

Es importante pensar sobre lo qué las escuelas están pidiendo de los niños.

Ha aumentado el ritmo de la educación.

Sin embargo, la estructura del cerebro y el desarrollo no ha cambiado desde que nuestros cerebros evolucionaron cuando éramos cazadores y recolectores. ¿Qué estamos pidiendo a nuestros niños que hagan cuando en realidad ellos no tienen la estructura del cerebro y el desarrollo aún por hacer?

Cuando observa a los estudiantes de kindergarten o primer grado, los chicos son típicamente de 1 a uno y medio años detrás de las chicas en cuanto a su desarrollo, su capacidad de estarse quietos y su capacidad de seguir las instrucciones.

Chia Seeds Health Benefits

Chia seeds are getting increasingly popular for their nutritional value as well as health benefits. Here is a brief overview about their benefits.

The chia plant (Salvia Hispรกnica) belongs to the mint family of Lamiaceae, and is native to some parts of Mexico and Guatemala. It is believed that, cultivation of chia plants as a food source, dates back to the time of the Aztecs. As per archaeological evidences, the use of chia seeds can be traced back to 3500 B.C. Even today, this plant is widely cultivated in these regions, as people have realized the nutritional value of its seeds. Now, the plant is grown commercially in various parts of the world.

Australia is the biggest producer of chia seeds, which is now marketed under various names. Even the oil extracted from these seeds has a high nutritional value. Both the seeds and oil are rich in omega fatty acids, antioxidants, and amino acids.

Chia plants produce purple or white flowers that develop on terminal spikes.

Their seeds are small and oval; and have a mottled appearance, with black, brown, white, and gray colors. Each seed has a diameter of around one millimeter, and contains 34% oil, 20% protein, and 25% water-soluble dietary fiber. Studies show that chia seeds are one of the richest source of omega-3 essential fatty acids and antioxidants. One ounce of chia seeds amounts to around 138 calories, and contains 12 grams of carbohydrates, 9.8 grams of dietary fiber, 179 mg calcium, 115 mg of potassium, and 244 mg of phosphorus. Apart from that, it contains considerable amount of vitamin B, C, and E. Chia seeds can be consumed raw, or can be soaked in water before consumption. These seeds can be used for preparing porridge and puddings. Chia sprouts are also equally popular.

Health Benefits Being rich in essential fatty acids, chia seeds are good for reducing high blood pressure. These seeds are also good for cardiovascular health. It is believed that, chia seeds have the ability to stabilize blood sugar levels.

The anti-inflammatory property of chia seeds are beneficial for those with arthritis. It has been found to be effective in reducing the pain and inflammation, associated with the condition.

These seeds boost metabolism, and also promotes lean muscle mass. It is one of those foods, which is rich in nutrients and is filling, but is low in calories. So, these seeds are used for weight loss too.

It is also suggested that, chia seeds are good for improving the function of the brain. The essential fatty acids in these seeds promote efficient nerve transmission.

Being rich in nutrients, these seeds are considered one of the best energy enhancing foods. It has been found to be effective in enhancing the performance of athletes.

Apart from boosting the overall health, chia seeds can also prevent medical conditions, like heart diseases. Even though, side effects of chia seeds are extremely rare, there are reports which suggest that over consumption of these seeds may increase the risk of prostate cancer in men. Some people develop digestive problems, like indigestion and bloating, after consuming chia seeds. So, moderate use is recommended.

In a small mixing bowl combine the graham cracker crumbs, Splenda, and melted butter until mixed together well. Using the back of a large spoon, press the mixture on the bottom and up the sides of an 8-inch springform pan. Chill the crust for about ten minutes.

In a blender container mix the lemon gelatin mix and the hot water; slowly add in the cream cheese and the tofu. Continue to mix until smooth.

Pour the mixture into a large mixing bowl and add the lemon rind, lemon juice and the thawed topping. Pour into the prepared pan, smoothing the top. Chill for 4 hours or more. Before serving garnish with more whipped topping and fresh fruit/fruits of your choice, if desired. *If you cannot use crumbs made from graham crackers, make your crumbs from sugar-free butter cookies or sugar-free vanilla wafers.

Kids in general either hate brushing their teeth or they simply couldn’t care less. However, it is important to teach your kids how to brush their teeth to avoid dental and other health problems. With a little patience, creativity, and a handy tool, you should be able to get your kids to brush their teeth in no time.

For preschoolers It’s relatively easy to teach preschoolers, as long as it’s fun for them and is done through rhythm and rhyme. Let your kids know that there are germs that we can’t see living on their teeth and it’s important to get rid of them. You can even make a song about teeth brushing.

When teaching your kids how to brush their teeth, first show them the proper way to go about it. Once you have demonstrated the up and down, round and round process of brushing teeth, hand your kids their brushes and let them try. Use a safe kids step stool to help them reach the sink. Choose one that is self-retracting so that when your kids are done using the sink, the step stool automatically retracts underneath the sink and out of adults way. Once they are able to do the whole brushing process themselves, make the event and exciting and joyous one. Clap and cheer for your kids. Tell your other family members how good the kids were and have them cheer for the children as well. Have your kids show other family members how they too can brush their teeth.

Things to do: Show your kids how excited you are about brushing, and get even more excited when they brush.

PROGRAMA DE RENOVACION DE DACA (ACCION DIFERIDA) CONFIRMADO Por: Wilson Purves, Abogado USCIS anuncio en Mayo del 2014 que los beneficiarios de la Acción Diferida para los Llegados en la Infancia (“DACA”) podrán renovar su status a partir del 2014.

Como es de conocimiento público, desde Septiembre del 2012 gran cantidad de inmigrantes se han venido acogiendo a los beneficios de DACA. Estos inmigrantes saben que su status y el permiso de trabajo obtenido tienen una fecha de expiración, que son dos años contados desde la fecha en que su DACA status fue otorgado.

USCIS señala que los beneficiarios DACA podrán presentar su solicitud de renovación, y la documentación adicional pertinente, aproximadamente 120 días (o 4 meses) antes de la fecha de vencimiento o expiración de su DACA status. Esta es también la misma fecha en que su Tarjeta de Autorización de Empleo (EAD) expira. La fecha de expiración está consignada en la parte frontal del mencionado permiso de trabajo.

En este sentido, es importante que los interesados presenten su solicitud de renovación ante USCIS aproximadamente 4 meses antes de que su DACA status expire, pues así evitarán encontrarse sin una autorización de trabajo vigente y fuera de dicho status.

Por otro lado, es oportuno mencionar que, en Mayo del 2014 USCIS publicó un nuevo formulario que podrá ser utilizado tanto para la renovación como para solicitudes iniciales de DACA status.

El paquete de solicitud de renovación de DACA status consta de los siguientes formularios, debidamente firmados: Formularios I-821D, I-765, y I-765WS. Asimismo, se deberá adjuntar el pago de la tarifa exigida por USCIS, y las pruebas pertinentes, de ser el caso. Si usted recibió DACA status de ICE, en lugar de USCIS, por favor tenga en cuenta que el proceso de renovación es diferente, y su explicación no está comprendida en este articulo.

Find a Mentor This Summer By: Sofía Keck Summertime is upon us, and what that means for young people is a break from their scholastic activities from a period of time, but hopefully not a break from learning altogether.

For this reason summertime has always been a popular time for summer internships and practicum experiences that produce a kind of learning that can only be obtained outside the classroom. By gaining real-life experience in a field, young people can be set on a pathway to success.

Yet, doing so without guidance from a more seasoned professional might lead them astray. Which is why there is tremendous value in the establishment of a mentoring relationship.

With the help of some colleagues we have answered 3 frequently asked questions about having a mentor:

1. What is the benefit of having a mentor?

A mentor’s goal is to help his or her mentee find their own path. A mentor can help foment new ideas in a mentee and provide advice for the mentee based on his or her own experience.

This benefits the mentee greatly by acquiring some knowledge gained by the mentor’s experience without having to take the often winding path that the mentor had to take to acquire it.

A mentor can help expand the mentees knowledge about the industry of interest, give guidance and help set some goals and keep the mentee accountable in achieving them. Yet, the best mentors provide more than just career advice, they also provide valuable life lessons in the process of professional mentorship.

2. What does a mentor look for in a mentee?

Mentors look for a mentee with ambition, openness, and willingness to learn and to be proactive about putting new knowledge into use.

A mentee should be like a sponge, always asking questions, always taking notes, absorbing everything the mentor has to offer and pairing that with their enthusiasm and energy to think outside the box.

By bringing their sincere enthusiasm to the relationship, the mentee provides something valuable for the mentor as well, and often the mentor can learn a great deal from their mentee.

3. How can a young person find a mentor?

In the modern professional climate, it has become easier to find a mentor. Not only are the mentors pairing services online, but many professional organizations have a mentorship program associated with them.

Also, mentor relationships can form organically from being involved in a professional network, or from the people we know in our lives.

Another good means is through the internship process itself, many seasoned professionals are eager to take on interns, and this naturally forms into a mentorship relationship.

The best way to find a mentor is by asking for mentorship. The mentee shows initiative and willingness that will likely make the mentoring relationship mutually beneficial. Mentorship is meant to be fulfilling for both parties.

This is an important process in business as well as in life, so that it provides meaning to the work that we all choose to do. A good mentor can be a really positive force in the life of a young person, a sort of real-world teacher, and we all ought to encourage the mentorship process.

Encuentre Un Mentor Este Verano Por: Sofía Keck El verano está sobre nosotros y lo que esto significa para la gente joven es un descanso de sus actividades escolares por un período de tiempo; pero esperamos que no sea un descanso de aprendizaje en conjunto.

Por esta razón el verano siempre ha sido un tiempo popular para pasantías de verano y experiencias prácticas que producen un tipo de aprendizaje que solamente puede obtenerse fuera del aula. Adquiriendo experiencia real en un área, la gente joven puede establecerse en el camino al éxito.

Aún, al hacerlo sin ayuda de un profesional más experimentado podría conducirlos por mal camino. Por esto es que hay un valor tremendo en el establecimiento de una relación de tutoría.

Con la ayuda de algunos colegas nos hemos contestado las 3 preguntas más frecuentes acerca de tener un mentor:

1. ¿Cuál es el beneficio de tener un mentor?

La meta de un mentor es ayudar a su aprendiz a encontrar su propio camino. Un mentor puede ayudar a fomentar nuevas ideas en un aprendiz y proporcionar asesoramiento basado en su propia experiencia.

Esto beneficia enormemente al aprendiz mediante la adquisición de unos conocimientos adquiridos por la experiencia del mentor, sin tener que tomar a menudo el sendero serpenteante que el mentor tuvo que tomar para adquirirlos.

Un mentor puede ayudar a expandir el conocimiento de los estudiantes sobre una industria de interés, dar orientación y ayuda a establecer algunas metas y mantener al aprendiz responsable de poder lograr dichos conocimientos.

Heat emergencies Heat emergencies fall into three categories of increasing severity: heat cramps, heat exhaustion, and heatstroke.

Considerations. Heat illnesses are easily preventable by taking precautions in hot weather.

Children, elderly, and obese people have a higher risk of developing heat illness. People taking certain medications or drinking alcohol also have a higher risk. However, even a top athlete in superb condition can succumb to heat illness if he or she ignores the warning signs.

If the problem isn’t addressed, heat cramps (caused by loss of salt from heavy sweating) can lead to heat exhaustion (caused by dehydration), which can progress to heatstroke. Heatstroke, the most serious of the three, can cause shock, brain damage, organ failure, and even death.

Causes. Heat emergencies are caused by prolonged exposure to extreme heat. The following are common causes of heat emergencies: Alcohol use, Dehydration, Heart disease, High temperatures or humidity, Medications such as beta blockers, Diuretics, Neuroleptics, Phenothiazines, and Anticholinergics, Prolonged or excessive exercise, Sweat gland problems, Wearing too much clothing Symptoms. The early symptoms of heat illness include: Profuse sweating, Fatigue, Thirst, Muscle cramps. Later symptoms of heat exhaustion include: Headache, Dizziness and lightheadedness, Weakness, Nausea and vomiting, Cool, moist skin, Dark urine The symptoms of heatstroke include: Fever (temperature above 104 °F), Irrational behavior, Extreme confusion, Dry, hot, and red skin, Rapid, shallow breathing, Rapid, weak pulse, Seizures, Unconsciousness.

Emergencias por el calor Las emergencias por el calor encajan en tres categorías de creciente severidad: calambres por el calor, agotamiento por el calor e insolación.

Consideraciones. Las enfermedades a causa del calor son fáciles de prevenir tomando precauciones en climas cálidos.

Los niños, los ancianos y las personas obesas son más susceptibles a desarrollar este tipo de enfermedad. Las personas que toman ciertos medicamentos o consumen alcohol también tienen un riesgo mayor. Sin embargo, aún un atleta de alto rendimiento en excelentes condiciones también puede sucumbir a la enfermedad por el calor si ignora los signos de advertencia.

Si no se aborda este problema, los calambres por el calor (ocasionados por la pérdida de sal debido a la transpiración excesiva) pueden provocar agotamiento por calor (a causa de la deshidratación), que puede progresar a insolación. IS THIS WHALE-SHAPED PLANE THE FUTURE OF AIRLINERS? radical design dwarfs current planes By: Jack Stewart

Airliners have become steadily bigger in an effort to fit in more passengers and drive down the cost of tickets. Could a new outsized design change the way we fly?

Spotting an Airbus A380 at an airport can still create great excitement. The giant, double-decker plane can seat between 500 and 850 people, depending on how much space is given to spacesaving economy class, and how much goes to higher-paying passengers with all that extra leg room. It’s an aviation giant, the biggest passengercarrying aircraft ever to fly the skies.

But the A380 could be become small fry if another, even more outsized design takes to the skies.

The AWWA Sky Whale is a concept aircraft from Spanish designer Oscar Vinals. With three decks for passengers, it looks like a cross between a tropical fish and a sci-fi space shuttle. Does this huge design herald the future of air travel?

Bigger means better in the world of airliners; the dawn of the jet age brought in the likes of the Boeing 707, an aircraft capable of carrying more passengers quicker and faster than any propellerdriven design. In the ensuing decades, airliners have grown larger and larger. The advent of “jumbo” designs, characterized by Boeing’s 747, meant more passengers per flight, and therefore cheaper seats.

The plane would have swiveling engines for shorter take offs. “Travelling in the Sky Whale could be like a travelling in your private ‘theatre seat’, enjoying what happens around you; hearing some air flow noise, but feeling safe inside a big and intelligent structure,” Vinals says.

The design would use advanced technologies such as self-repairing wings, swiveling engines to enable a near vertical take-off, and hybrid propulsion.

inside the wings, like a high-speed and powerful dynamo,” says Vinals.

The design also calls for a system to redirect air flow to intake engines and to control laminar flow – in other words, to reduce turbulence around the plane and reduce drag.

None of these technologies are feasible on a large scale at the moment, but all are possible, says Vinals.

“I did this because I am an aerospace and aviation enthusiast – the technology, development and evolution,” he explains. “I would like to contribute, with my vision, about these.”

Perhaps that vision from someone outside the aerospace industry, without preconceptions, is what is needed to revolutionize plane design.

Vinals told me he did “years” and “terabytes” of research. It’s an approach that some in the field appreciate.

“I think that’s where these concepts come in,” says Dr. Michael Jump, lecturer in aerospace engineering at the University of Liverpool. “It’s people challenging through their imaginations.

It’s the engineering community’s opportunity to either say ‘that’s a good idea, let’s try and make it happen’, or ‘it’s less of a good idea, and this is the reason why’”.

He says there are three factors to consider when evaluating the design of an aircraft, collectively known as the Breguet Range equation. This can be used as an estimate of efficiency.

The design would limit turbulence around the wings, thus decreasing drag They are: propulsive efficiency (how efficient are your engines?); aerodynamic efficiency (is lift maximized and drag minimized?); and structural efficiency (how much payload can you carry?).

Generally airlines want to fly as far as possible, with the biggest load (or largest combined weight of passengers) possible, while using as little fuel as possible. If you can maximize all three, you technically have a better aircraft design. The major airliner manufacturers have made tweaks to this equation, but have largely

stayed faithful to a tried-and-trusted design.

“The likes of Boeing and Airbus have a lot of experience of building aircraft that look like a tube and two wings,” “When it comes to a new airframe that they want to design, it makes sense to evolve rather than revolutionize.” says Dr. Jump.

A cylinder is also a structurally efficient way to contain pressure, which aircraft must do to maintain the right air pressure for passengers when flying at high altitude.

The Airbus A380 is currently the biggest airliner in the world Mark Drela, professor in the department of aeronautics and astronautics at MIT, agrees.

“The airplane fuselage is a pressure vessel,” he says. “It really needs a circular cross section for that. You don’t see scuba diving tanks that are rectangular. If it’s round, then it’s light.” On a plane, of course, weight is everything.

“Airplanes look the way they do, not because of some stylistic decision, but almost entirely for technical reasons,” “Form follows function.” He says.

For that reason, Drela doubts the usefulness of design exercises like this one. “It’s more of a stylistic concept,” he says.

What’s more, for a manufacturer to be able to sell a new aircraft, it has to demonstrate that it is safe. The safety regulations have evolved over a century of manned flight, but with a radical design it would be much harder to demonstrate safety.

“The optimized airplane is like a grand set of compromises, and it’s a colossal exercise to balance everything,” says Drela.

“Airbus went with the huge A380, Boeing put its money on the smaller airplane with 787. And it is not obvious which is the better approach yet.”

¿Este avión con forma de ballena es el futuro de las aerolíneas? diseño radical empequeñece a los aviones actuales Las aerolíneas se han vuelto progresivamente más grandes en un esfuerzo por acomodar más pasajeros y reducir el costo de los pasajes. ¿Podría un nuevo diseño descomunal cambiar la forma de volar?

Detectar un Airbus A380 en un aeropuerto todavía puede crear gran entusiasmo. El gigante, avión de dos pisos con capacidad para entre 500 y 850 personas, dependiendo de cuánto espacio se le da a la clase económica, y cuánto espacio se le da a los pasajeros que pagan más por tener más espacio para las piernas. Es un gigante de la aviación, es el avión de pasajeros más grande que alguna vez haya volado los cielos.

Pero el A380 puede ser convertido en algo pequeño si otro, aún más descomunal se levanta a los cielos.

El AWWA Ballena de los Cielos es un concepto del diseñador español Oscar Vinals. Con tres pisos para pasajeros, parece un cruce entre un pez tropical y un transbordador espacial de ciencia ficción. ¿Será este monumental diseño el precursor de cómo se viajará en el futuro?

Más grande significa mejor en el mundo de las aerolíneas; el amanecer de la edad de los ‘jets” nos trajo los Boeing 707, un avión capaz de transportar a más pasajeros y más rápido que cualquier diseño impulsado por hélice. En los decenios posteriores, aviones de pasajeros han crecido cada vez más grandes. La llegada de los diseños “jumbo”, caracterizados por los 747 de Boeing, significó más pasajeros por vuelo y por lo

El avión tendría motores giratorios para levantarse en pistas más cortas. “Viajando en La ballena de los cielos podría ser como viajar en el asiento de su teatro privado, disfrutando de lo que pasa alrededor de ti; escuchando algún ruido del flujo del aire, pero sintiéndose seguro dentro de una estructura grande e inteligente,” dice Vinals.

El diseño utilizaría tecnologías avanzadas tales como alas auto reparadoras, motores giratorios para habilitar un casi despegue vertical y propulsión híbrida. “Los motores y las baterías serán alimentadas por una turbina dentro de las alas, como un dínamo de gran alcance y alta velocidad,” dice Vinals.

El diseño también necesitará un sistema para redirigir el flujo del aire para los motores de admisión y control de flujo laminar – en otras palabras reducir turbulencias en el avión y reducir arrastre.

Ninguna de estas tecnologías son factibles a gran escala por el momento, pero todo es posible, dice Vinals.

“Airbus se fue con el gran A380, Boeing pone su dinero en el avión más pequeño con el 787. Y no es obvio que cuál es el mejor enfoque todavía.”

Productivo En su lugar de trabajo, posiblemente es donde más usted enfrenta dificultades, malos entendidos y estrés. Sea en una oficina corporativa o del gobierno, en un taller, línea de manufactura o ensamblaje, finca de cosecha, restaurante, ventas, etc. En su primer día de trabajo, posiblemente todo parecía perfecto y con grandes oportunidades. Luego con el tiempo comenzaron las fricciones, trabajo arduo, los celos y hasta chismes.

Sin embargo, dentro de toda esta situación, puedes tomar la decisión de continuar siendo productivo y hasta disfrutar cada día haciendo tus labores con orgullo y dedicación. Sobre esto, el Apóstol Pablo dice: “Hagan lo que hagan, trabajen de buena gana, como para el Señor y no como para nadie en este mundo… (Colosenses 3:23 NVI)”. Esto aplica también en el matrimonio, criar hijos, ministerio, y cuando estás de compras, etc.

ACTITUD – Nuestras actitudes positivas y buen ánimo cambian el ambiente en cualquier lugar que estemos. Una sonrisa llena de sinceridad, comprensión y buena voluntad transmite confianza y seguridad. Solo hay que estar convencidos que cada día es el día que el Señor hizo para nuestro disfrute y éxito.

Y como individuos llenos de esperanza hacia el futuro y con ganas de ser parte del crecimiento de la organización a la que pertenecemos o a nuestra familia e Iglesia, es importante entender que nuestras palabras deben usarse para edificar y no destruir a los demás. Salomón nos amonesta sobre esto diciendo: “La blanda respuesta quita la ira; Mas la palabra áspera hace subir el furor.” (Proverbios 15:1 NVI).

Sé ejemplo y de inspiración a los demás. Hay personas que tienen sus dificultades, retos, limitaciones y frustraciones. Ten paciencia con ellos, apóyalos y colabora en equipo de trabajo para resolver no solo lo que concierne a tu área de trabajo o llamado, sino los de ellos, y las metas de la organización en su totalidad. Esto ayudará aliviar la carga de los que están pasando por momentos difíciles en sus vidas.

RESPONSABILIDAD – Todos tenemos responsabilidades. Ser responsable de nuestras palabras, acciones, decisiones y de todo lo que se nos ha delegado o encomendado, es clave para ganar el respeto y la confianza de los demás. Dar cuentas de todo lo que hacemos, y aceptar responsabilidad cuando cometemos errores, son rasgos de un líder con futuro y potencial.

Piensa que tu trabajo, tu responsabilidad, tu misión con la organización, te fue delegada por el Señor, y no por un ser humano. Esto hará que trabajes con más dedicación y tolerancia. Piensa en esto, y el Señor no te fallará. Te fortalecerá y te dará visión y sabiduría para con todas tus responsabilidades.

Serás “…como el árbol plantado a la orilla de un río que, cuando llega su tiempo, da fruto y sus hojas jamás se marchitan, Y todo lo que hace prosperará.” (Salmo 1:1-3 NVI).

APRENDER – Siempre hay espacio para aprender y mejorar. Tenemos mucho que aprender de otras personas, incluyendo de los niños que nunca guardan rencor ni odio. Lo primero que hay que aprender es a escuchar.

Acuérdate que no lo sabemos todo. Escucha lo que los demás tienen que decir. Oye qué opinan, qué sugieren, y cuáles son sus quejas. Dales crédito y reconocimiento por sus buenas labores y contribuciones.

Buenas actitudes, sentido de alta responsabilidad y dispuesto a aprender, son algunos de los ingredientes necesarios para ser productivo y tener éxito en todo. Créelo y muévete en esa dirección a favor de tu familia, tu Iglesia, tu trabajo y tu comunidad. Notarás un cambio positivo en todo lo que te rodea.
