By: Edyzza Grace Gestiada, Yen Angtiampo, Harley Angelo Deniña and Leah Mae Ribery The Bicol University College of Nursing (BUCN) was hailed as the Grand Champion in the Street Dance Competition of the 50th Founding Anniversary of the Bicol University held last Tuesday, September 17, 2019. The street dance started off from the Penaranda Park to the Albay Sports Complex. It was participated by 15 colleges from all BU campuses namely BUCN, BUTC, BUGC, BUPC, BUCAL, BUCENG, IPESR, BUCM, BUCS, BUCE, CSSP, CBEM, BUIA, BUCAF, and BUCIT. It was the first time

that the BUCN won such competition and they were especially thrilled in winning this competition during the University's Golden Anniversary. The selected BUCN participants and the rest of the BUCN body leaped for joy when they, the "Sarung Banggi" Group, was called as the Champion for the 2019 Street Dance Competition.

"It was very unexpected and we all felt great happiness! We literally had to jump for joy”, said James Wrenn Nobleza, one of the selected BUCN participants.

August 19, 2019 — Through a deliberate evaluation of candidates by a panel of judges, Darwish Mikhail Padrigone and Apple Mae Tonacao were crowned as Mr. & Ms. Bicol University College of Nursing at the BUCN amphitheater.

Padrigone and Tonacao proudly

represented the college in the highly anticipated Mr. & Ms. Bicol University 2019 held last September 16, 2019 at the Ibalong Centrum for Recreation.

Both delegates brought home the People's Choice Award and Padrigone was recognized as Mr. Caballeros.

The Bicol University College of Nursing has once again marked an excellent performance during the recent Nurse Licensure Examination (NLE) last June 2019 with an overall passing rate of 94.26%. Ranked as 7th top performing school, BUCN produced To bolster collaboration and yield bonds among the students while cultivating their physical and intellectual competency and character, the Bicol University College of Nursing (BUCN) launched the annual college intramurals last August 29-30, 2019. This three day intramurals was packed with competitive yet electrifying energy as the four teams (Air Nomads, Water Tribe, Earth Kingdom, Fire Nation) vied for the championship in the

115 passers with 2 placers in the top 10.

This year’s intramurals was culminated with a victory party and an awarding ceremony where the Fire Nation emerged as the final victor and overall champion, followed by the Earth Kingdom, Air Nomads, and Water Tribe (by order of ranking). The event was spearheaded by the BUCN Sports Club with the assistance of other college-based organizations.

Cecil-An Dalanon with a rating of 85.80% landed in the 9th place while Melanie Camasis ranked 10th with 85.60%. BUPC’s and BUTC’s nursing departments also displayed above par standings with 91.30% and 93.18%, as their overall passing percentage correspondingly.

By: Maria Arzha Yap and Sharmaine Mae Alcantara As rays of gold radiate in the institution, the gates of brighter future opened more opportunities and possibilities to the students as Bicol University celebrated its 50th founding anniversary at the main campus on September 5 through September 22, 2019. The event was participated in by the school personnel all over Bicol University including the president, alumni, and extending to all the students of different and satellite campuses.

Integrated to acquire camaraderie for the foundation anniversary’s theme “BU @ 50: Building a Legacy, Transforming lives”, the graduates and students of Bicol University continuously showed their excellence and unleashed their potentials in their respective field all throughout the years; leading BU to be hailed as one of the top performing schools, not only in the

Bicol region but in the country as well. In pursuit of unity and camaraderie, everyone participated in the events despite the hectic schedule. The events included the grand coronation of Mr. and Ms. Bicol University held at the Ibalong Centrum for Recreation, Legazpi City. A whole day to enjoy the rides and fun that took place at the Carnival on BU grounds, accompanied by

relaxing and blast songs of different bands—the granted Student’s Day is one of the favorites. Along with the celebration of the founding anniversary, the BU Golden Hataw is one of the highlights in the celebration this year.

Amidst the pouring rain in this year’s Hataw, the students showed their best and enjoyed the performance. Indeed, the students proved that even a

torrential downpour will not stop them from giving their best for Bicol University.

The event officially started with a festival-themed parade by all freshmen students coming from the different colleges and campuses, stretching from Penaranda Park to BU grounds where the program awaits. The BUCN freshmen, despite being outnumbered by other colleges, actively participated in the yell

competition to the pageant.

The college gave light to Panagbenga Festival of Baguio which showcased colorful flowers and costumes.

The Festival Queen, Ms. Chloe Sofia Evangelista of BSN 1-D allured the audience with her most charming smile and lovely festive costume.

During the evening, the freshmen participated in contests and enjoyed the rave party where bands performed amazingly.
