Students selected for District V Honors Band

Five Canfield Village Middle School seventh- and eighth-grade band students were selected to participate in the Ohio Music Educators Association District V Honors Band on Nov. 9 and 10 at Stambaugh Auditorium. District V is made up of schools in Ashtabula, Trumbull and Mahoning Counties. One hundred and nine students were in the band representing 33 schools. The students were selected by nominations from their respective band directors. The band rehearsed all day on Nov. 9 and in the morning on Nov. 10. A concert was presented at 1 p.m. in the Stambaugh Auditorium. This year’s honor band was guest conducted by William Owens, whose career as a music educator spans three decades. He is very active as a composer, clinician and conductor throughout the United states and Canada.
