Happily Ever After Shannon Craig to be bride of Brent Syter in Aug. rite Shannon Craig and Brent Syter are engaged and planning an Aug. 27 wedding at St. Robert Bellarmine Church in Cortland. The parents of the future bride, Mr. and Mrs. Michael Craig of Canfield, are announcing. Mr. and Mrs. James Syter of Cortland are parents of the prospective groom. The bride-elect earned a bachelor’s degree in business administration from John Carroll University. She is a human resources manager at PolyOne Corp. in Avon Lake. The future groom received a bachelor’s degree in nutrition and master’s degree in public health from Youngstown State University. He is an epidemiologist for the City of Cleveland Health Department.

Dr. Jeanine Awad v Dr. Charles Spirtos Dr. Jeanine Awad, daughter of Dr. Mounir and Linda Awad of Canfield, and Dr. Charles Spirtos, son of Dr. Ted and Georgia Spirtos of Poland, were united in marriage Sept. 26, 2015, in a Catholic ceremony at St. Maron Church in Youngstown. It was officiated by Chorbishop Michael Kail and the Rev. Ronald Eid. A reception followed at the Butler Institute of American Art. The Revs. Steve Denas, Dan Rohan and Constantine Valantasis officiated at a Greek Orthodox ceremony Sept. 27 at Archangel Michael Church in Campbell. A small reception followed at the George T. Pappas Community Center at the church. The bride wore an ivory strapless fit-andflare gown that featured a sweetheart neckline, beaded lace and crystals and a chapel train adorned with pearls. Her ensemble was completed with a fingertip veil. Plum gowns were worn by honor attendants Michele Awad, Dr. Marie AwadAlexander and Dr. Diana Awad Scrocco. Bridesmaids were Dr. Sheena Dohar, Atty. Cassandra Dohar, Juliette Palusak, Korinna Sherman and Makayla Sherman and Dr. Kara Kowalczyk. Junior bridesmaid was Jacqueline Palusak and Jillian Palusak was the flower girl. Michael Hando Sr. performed the duties of best man. Groomsmen were Tony Spirtos, Louis Hando, Michael Hando Jr., Niko Fatimus and Louis Fatimus, trooper John Isoldi Jr., Iraklis Alevizakis, Jonathan Funk, George Mazoros, Dr. John David Scrocco, Atty. Louis Alexander and Michael Dohar Jr. Andrew Michael Scrocco was ring bearer. The koumbaros for the Greek Orthodox ceremony were Dr. Manuel Spirtos and Tony Spirtos. Kalliope Spirtos served as the

Katie Hart to wed Anthony Berdis Pam and Bill Hart of Girard are announcing the engagement of their daughter, Katie Lynn Hart, also of Girard, and Anthony Stephen Berdis of Massillon, Ohio. He is the son of Kim and Ron Berdis of Austintown. An open wedding is planned for 2 p.m. July 2 at St. Christine Church in Youngstown. An adult reception by invitation will follow at Palermo Banquet Center in Campbell. The couple are graduates of Youngstown State University. The bride-elect earned a bachelor’s degree in education and her future husband earned a bachelor’s degree in biology. Miss Hart is a first-grade teacher at Brookfield Local Schools. Mr. Berdis continued his education at Ohio University Heritage College of Osteopathic Medicine, where he earned a doctor of osteopathic medicine degree. He is an orthopedic surgeon resident at Affinity Medical Center in Massillon.

She completed an internship in general surgery at UPMC Mercy in Pittsburgh. She is a resident physician in emergency medicine at Akron General Medical Center. The groom received a bachelor’s degree in combined sciences from Youngstown State University and his doctor of medicine degree from NEOMED. His residency training was in diagnostic radiology at MetroHealth Medical Center and his fellowship training in nuclear radiology was completed at Case Medical Center, both in Cleveland. He is a physician in diagnostic and nuclear radiology at Cleveland Clinic. The couple took a wedding trip to the Bahamas and have made their home in Akron.

Rachel Ann Altiere and Ryan Gordon Cohen were joined in marriage on June 27, 2015, in the Ohio Statehouse Rotunda in Columbus, in a ceremony officiated by Chase Waits. A reception followed in the statehouse Atrium. The bride is the daughter of Dr. and Mrs. James N. Altiere Jr. of Canfield. Her husband is the son of Dr. Michael Cohen of Granville, Ohio, and Mrs. Cea Cohen-Elliott of Beavercreek, Ohio. The bride wore an ivory fitted gown with a mermaid-style silhouette that featured a long train of tulle and silk ribbon. Renee Altiere-Beeson, the bride’s sister, was maid of honor. Attendants included Jennifer King, Holli Castelli, Suzanne Higginbotham and Deandra Demes. Each attendant chose her own complimentary style of blush and rose chiffon A-line gowns. The groom’s brother, Travis Cohen, performed duties of best man. Groomsmen included Michael Young, Christopher Brenner, Kevin Pierson and Scott Renner. Flower girls were Riley Cain and Charlotte Grace Altiere, nieces of the bride. Jacob Altiere, the bride’s nephew, was ring bearer. The bride earned a bachelor’s degree in journalism from Ohio State University. She modeled commercially in New York City for

eight years and earned her Screen Actors Guild card through television appearances, before moving to Columbus to open a bakery, Sadie Baby Sweets. A graduate of Ohio University with a bachelor’s degree in communication and systems management, Mr. Cohen is the regional law enforcement representative for the group Olde Sales. The Cohens traveled to St. Lucia for a honeymoon, and live in Grandview, Ohio.
