THE GOVERNMENT OF ST. VINCENT AND THE GRENADINES HAS officially severed ties with PACE Developments, the Canadian company behind the stalled Black Sands Resort project at Peter’s Hope, an investment that was expected to be in the region of US$65 million. The severing was confirmed by Prime Minister Dr. Ralph Gonsalves during his appearance on last Sunday’s edition of WE FM Issue at Hand programme. The Prime Minister stated inter alia that the government will pursue the process of acquiring the project, and he indicated that towards this end, the appraisal of the property had already begun. PACE Developments has already been notified of government’s intention.

Another Marriott The acquisition, according to the Prime Minister, will clear the path for a new Marriott (Hotel) development which will feature 300 rooms. Wynne One and Two boast two of the best black sand beaches on mainland St. Vincent and perhaps in the Caribbean. The Mt. Wynne hotel was projected to be a 250-room facility, and government had indicated then that it had secured a loan of some US$50 million from Taiwan to fund the construction. There was no clarity with respect to whether this “new Marriott development was to be one in which government would stand the coast of construction and enter into another management consultancy with Marriott International as per the one at Mt. Wynne. Continue on page 3
