The 39th annual Salamanca-Seneca Falling Leaves Festival Friday, September 30 - Saturday, October 3 is filled with Seneca Culture and Heritage events with a beautiful fall foliage background. The event is a way to promote the culture of the Seneca Nation of Indians, as well as the relationship between the nation and the City of Salamanca
and will have a cultural aspect with demonstrations of Seneca arts, food and entertainment. Admission to the festival is free. There are carnival rides for the kids and a car show as well as plenty of vendors. A dance will be held Saturday night at the American See SENECA Page 7

ST West Board Takes a Tour of Alfred State Project
By Lori Humphreys The last train using the Buffalo – Pittsburgh Railway between Orchard Park and West Valley, New York passed along the 27mile track in 1996. The pathway remained and it’s the goal of the Erie Cattaraugus Rail Trail, Inc to transform the railway into a 27-
mile trail for walkers, bikers, horse back riders, and snow mobile rides. On Wednesday, October 5, 2016 at 10am the Springville “Pop Warner” Rail Trail, the 1.8 mile first portion of the Erie – Cattaraugus Rail Trail, will open. As the railroad did, the completed See TRAILS Page 8

By Nicholas Pircio The Cattaraugus County Industrial Development Agency (IDA) approved resolutions advancing three local projects, at its meeting held Tuesday, September 20th in Ellicottville. The projects are located in Ellicottville, Franklinville, and Olean. All resolutions were unanimously approved by the IDA Board. Ski Areas Ready for a Robust Winter HoliMont is planning a $350,000 capital improvement project to focus on snow removal and associated work, for the 2016-17 ski season. The Scariest Hayride in WNY takes place FridaysSundays September 30-October 30, 7:30-9:30pm on Sommerville Road in Ellicottville NY. Nightmare Hayride is a 25-minute tractor drawn hayride down a creepy haunted path with live scary creatures. Guests often end up sitting in the persons lap next to them out of fright. The hayride leads to a Gothic Chamber, Wooden Maze and through the Haunted Barn with the Vortex Tunnel. There are seven tractors running continuously, no reservation needed.
