We are thrilled to present Lane Cove’s inaugural 10-minute play competition, brought to you as part of the Lane Cove Festival at the end of September.

Have you got a story to tell in ten minutes? Plays are not meant to stay on a piece of paper, they need a stage. Lane Cove Theatre Company’s In a Nutshell offers an opportunity for you to bring your short play to life. In a Nutshell is Lane Cove's first short play festival. The festival will showcase short plays from up-and-coming talent and the audience will be given an opportunity to vote as part of People's Choice Awards. So what are you waiting for? If you've an idea that's been bouncing around in your head, get it on paper and submit it today! A unique opportunity to showcase the talents of local actors, directors and writers in a series of short ten-minute performances. A platform for artists to tell their stories and for theatre practitioners to showcase their performance skills to entertain new audiences. Generously supported by Lane Cove Council Lane Cove Theatre Company is proud to present the premiere staging of a new Australian work Man Date – a musical by Jonathon Emmet and Scott Dias. The show is a comedic and philosophical delve into the inner workings of the modern-day bromance. In a homage to TED Talks, two fictional university lecturers draw upon their own experiences of what it means to have a ‘bro’, and be a ‘bro’, and all the mishaps that come along with two very open gentlemen. Using banter, comical sketches, a loose story line and colourful music, including musical theatre and swing, the cabaret takes the audience on a very personal journey, and perhaps teach them something about life along the way.
