Past legal precedents play an integral part of the common law process and one has to understand and engage with our legal history in order to be proficient in the law. In respect of constructing our legal future, Singapore’s autochthonous legal system is still in the early stages of its development. In the coming years, there will no doubt be many more important decisions of the Singapore Courts, as the law is shaped to meet Singapore’s unique composite landscape and ever changing needs. Young lawyers will, no doubt, play an important role in this development.
