GUNNED DOWN Widow of gangster shot dead by cops dies in GB driveby By DENISE MAYCOCK Tribune Freeport Reporter dmaycock@tribunemedia.net THE wife of a dead alleged gang leader was killed in Freeport yesterday in a shooting that also left a man in hospital with serious injuries. While her identity was not released by police, sources said she is Kim Smith, wife of Tony Smith, also known as Jamal Penn. Smith was one of three men shot dead last May when police executed a search warrant at a home in Blair in eastern New Providence. The Tribune understands Smith was expected to play a key role in the coroner’s inquest into the shooting death of her husband. According to reports,

THE Bahamas Gaming Operators Association said it has been “left totally confused” by the government’s “discriminatory” policy which blocks web shops from offering curbside services to patrons. The re-closure of the gaming industry, BGOA said, will further drive up the ballooning unemployment rate — which is set to exceed 30 percent — from an already challenged private sector labour force. During a national address

PRISONER WINS EXUMA MURDER APPEAL By FARRAH JOHNSON fjohnson@tribunemedia.net THE Court of Appeal has overturned the 20-year manslaughter sentence of a man who was accused of robbing and killing another man in Exuma six years ago. Two men, Demetri Rolle and Giordano Rolle Jr, were accused of murdering and stealing a gold chain, a gold watch and a sum of cash from Dwayne Nixon on February 18, 2014.
DEMETRI ROLLE A jury convicted Rolle of the manslaughter and armed robbery of Dwayne
Finnekan on March 10, 2017. On November 23, 2018, he was then sentenced to 20 years in prison for manslaughter and 15 years for armed robbery. Both sentences were ordered to run concurrently. Rolle Jr was convicted or murder and armed robbery and given a 30-year sentence. The three years Demetri Rolle spent on remand were deducted from the sentences. SEE PAGE SEVEN
