VICTIMS NAMED AS POLICE PROBE EXUMA DEATHS By KHRISNA RUSSELL Tribune Chief Reporter krussell@tribunemedia.net POLICE Commissioner Paul Rolle said investigators looking into the deaths of three Americans at Sandals Emerald Bay in Exuma are probing what the victims may have eaten as well as whether any “contaminants” were present in the separate rooms where they were found. While much remains unknown, officials do know that the two men and one woman died sometime between 11pm on May 5 when they, along with the lone survivor, visited the clinic seeking
medical attention for nausea and vomiting, and around 8.30am to 9am the next morning, when they were found dead in two separate villas. The deaths, which have attracted international attention, mean police along with health and environment officials are looking at many different avenues to sum up what happened, as they await the results from autopsies and toxicology reports. The post-mortem examinations were slated to take place yesterday. The commissioner provided an update into the probe yesterday while SEE PAGE THREE
‘I DISCLOSED’ BUT BOWLEG BLAMES ISSUE ON COMMUNICATION By EARYEL BOWLEG Tribune Staff Reporter ebowleg@tribunemedia.net
A CABINET Minister yesterday blamed “mixed communication” for the failure of some members of Parliament to file financial disclosures by the March 1 deadline. Youth, Sports and Culture Minister Mario Bowleg suggested there was confusion among some elected officials about how general election disclosures would be handled. Last week, The Tribune asked most MPs if they had met the disclosure deadline. Only some replied. However, Pia Glover-Rolle, Dr Hubert Minnis, Dr Michael Darville, Glenys Hanna Martin, Leon Lundy, Wayne Munroe, John Pinder, Shanendon Cartwright, Adrian White, Clay Sweeting and Keith Bell all said they had met the deadline. Following a press conference at the ministry regarding Youth in Parliament, Mr Bowleg confirmed yesterday that he too had declared his assets as required. SEE PAGE FIVE

ROBBIE and Michael Phillips, aged 65 and 68, were found dead in their villa at Sandals in Exuma. The third tourist who died was Vincent Chiarella, age 64, whose wife, Donnis, remains in serious condition in hospital.
BUSINESSES should brace for a 100 percent increase in container costs for the summer due to the Russia and Ukraine war. Michael Hall, managing director of Bahamas Maritime Logistics Service, said that supply chain issues outside of The Bahamas are not any better than earlier this year and he sees no letting up for the remainder of the year. He said: “The wave is probably going to hit us around summertime and around hurricane season then we will probably feel it.” FULL STORY - SEE BUSINESS
