BPL race to fix new plant issue

BPL has so far managed to reach just over 50 percent of the target depth on two of the four wells and, with summer’s peak demand just three-and-a-half months away, it has ordered an alternative radiator system as a back-up in case the original strategy fails.

GRAND Bahama recorded its third murder of the year when a young man was shot dead early yesterday morning in Freeport. Supt Brian Rolle, the officer-in-charge of Grand Bahama’s Central Detective Unit, said the victim, who is believed to be in his mid-twenties, was shot multiple times at a business establishment in the Caravel Beach area. He said that sometime around 1am Sunday, officers were dealing with several fights in the area of Polaris Drive at a well-known night spot.

POLICE in New Providence are investigating a traffic fatality that left an immigration officer dead and a woman in hospital early Saturday morning. According to reports, shortly before 4am, the woman, who was driving a white Daihatsu Mira, was travelling on East Bay Street near the Paradise Island Bridge when she lost control of the vehicle and hit a tree. EMS were called and the passenger was pronounced dead at the scene, while the driver was taken to hospital and was listed in stable condition. SEE PAGE THREE
