COOPER: WE’LL FIGHT BACK ON CRIME FEAR Two campaigns are launched to counter More love, international reports more life By LEANDRA ROLLE Tribune Staff Reporter lrolle@tribunemedia.net TOURISM Minister Chester Cooper yesterday announced the launch of two campaigns geared towards re-shaping the narrative about The Bahamas following negative global reports about crime in the country.

Mr Cooper said the campaigns, “Tourism is Everybody’s Business” and “I Love The Bahamas”, were launched yesterday and will run until June. He said the launch underscores the government’s commitment to protecting the country’s reputation and represents a comprehensive SEE PAGE THREE

GOVT ANNOUNCES PARTNERSHIP FOR DOWNTOWN WIFI COVERAGE A WiFi zone that runs from Arawak Cay to the Sir Sidney Poitier Bridge is on the way through a partnership between Aliv, the Department of Information and Communications Technology and the Ministry of Tourism, officials announced yesterday. The groups signed a three-year agreement to launch a “smart cruise port.”

Officials said the installation process began yesterday and is expected to be completed in the second quarter of this year. “The plan is to establish a WiFi zone at the Nassau Cruise Port and the environs outside of the port as far west as Arawak Cay and as far east as the Sir Sidney Poitier Bridge,” SEE PAGE THREE

Mother of Harold Brown claims in inquest, ‘doctors left my son to die’ By PAVEL BAILEY Tribune Staff Reporter pbailey@tribunemedia.net THE mother of Harold Brown, one of two men police killed in a chase on Tonique Williams-Darling Highway in 2017, claimed doctors left her son to die

in hospital after the shooting as the Coroner’s Court inquest into the matter continued yesterday. Richard “Buddy” Bastian and Harold “Kevin” Brown were killed on Tonique William Darling Highway around 1am on December 2, 2017.

A 26-YEAR-OLD man was remanded yesterday for allegedly killing Davinique Gray, a 16-year-old murdered while charging her phone at home in Nassau Village last month. Gray was the eighth murder victim of the year. Her, Shinika Johnson, 41, was charged last month with harbouring a criminal in connection with her death. Magistrate Algernon Allen Jr charged Keiron Major with murder.
