WOMAN KILLED ON WAY TO PRAYERS Victim dies from yet another stray bullet in gangland attack A WOMAN who was on her way to a prayer meeting was shot by a stray bullet and died on Robinson Road last night, police said. Assistant Superintendent Audley Peters said the woman was shot by a gunman who was firing his weapon at another man. The male victim was also wounded and is in hospital, police said. Police were alerted to the shooting on Robinson Road opposite Ida Street around 7pm. ASP Peters said the incident took place when a

group went to a home to collect a friend and were approached by a gunman. “A party went to a house to collect a friend,” he said at the scene. “On their arrival at that residence they were approached by a male who left that residence brandishing a firearm. The male ran from that residence and as he ran, the suspect who brandished the firearm started to discharge that weapon at him and as a result he ran south along Ida Street onto Robinson Road. THE United States Centers for Disease Control and Prevention has raised this country’s travel warning from level three to level four due to the “very high” level of COVID-19 infections, advising people to avoid travel to The Bahamas. HEALTH Minister Dr Michael Darville confirmed yesterday that the government discarded Johnson & Johnson vaccines that expired in December. Dr Darville said he was not certain how many vaccines were thrown away. At the beginning of December, there were 20,000 Johnson & Johnson
vaccines which faced imminent expiration. Although the government increased use of the vaccines at the prison and traded some to a foreign incentive group, some of the vaccines were ultimately discarded. Before Tuesday’s Cabinet meeting, Dr Darville said: “All of the doses of vaccines that went into expiration, they have been discarded.” SEE PAGE FOUR

A MAN, released on bail on Christmas Eve, was fatally shot on Monday night. The shooting incident also left another man listed in serious condition in hospital. Police have not officially released the identity of the deceased, but family told The Tribune yesterday he is Dave Miller Jr, 29.

Police said shortly before 8pm on Monday, they were alerted to a shooting in the area of Key West Street and Robinson Road. “This resulted in two adult males being shot about their bodies; they were transported to the hospital via private vehicles,” a police crime report noted. “One of the males succumbed to his injuries on arrival at the hospital and the other is listed in serious condition.” SEE PAGE THREE
