CANDIDATES FOR PRESIDENT

BRYAN COBURN I don’t want Kettering to change for the sake of change. I want Kettering to have change that yields lasting results.

Bryan Coburn is an involved and active student. He has experience dealing with the administration and is a familiar face on campus. His knowledge and presence on the campus would be an asset to the University. Coburn is looking to engage the students and ensure that their opinions are heard and acknowledged. His goal is to ensure that the student voice is a deciding factor in Kettering University's future.

2. What is the one trait you want people to know you for?

I take a lot of pride in my ability to be courageous and action oriented. It is very easy when dealing with others to be afraid to speak your mind. I am not afraid to speak up and take action on the thoughts and opinions I support.

One of the biggest problems facing our university today, is the low number of student enrollment. Kettering, one of the top engineering universities in the United States, struggles to attract new students. It seems that the university has taken an impressive step forward with their new open house, Dog Days of Su Summer, mmer, and the fact that they are in the process of revising the website to make it more attractive to potential students. I see potential in making an effort to recruit students in the same region as Kettering and start by making Kettering more well well-known.

5. What has been your biggest success and failure? What have you learned from them?

My greatest failures have been when I failed to meet a deadline or meet the expectation of my peers. I’ve learned just what letting someone down means and what repercussions repercussio that can have. My greatest successes have come about through my drive and ambition. I want to help others and will ensure that I do whatever it takes. I’ve learned that everyone can make a difference and no matter your position you can make huge waves.

6. What is your motivation for wanting to represent the student body via Student Senate?

My interest in running for Student Senate began with the proposed calendar change. Like many of the students I was quick to see many problems with it. After speaking with many of the involved faculty and staff I have a better understanding of their overall goal of increasing numbers and retaining students. It seems to me that there are other options that deserved to be explored and researched more. I think that through this position I can help the faculty investigate these alternatives and ensure the studen studentt voice is heard and acknowledged.

MATT HOLLAND My home is on the west side of Cleveland, Ohio where I grew up most of my life. I attended school at Bay High where I graduated in 2008. I stayed active in high school with activities like band, sports and Boy Scouts. In 2007 I achieved the rank of Eagle Scout, and would later go on to win the Cleveland Eagle Scout of the year scholarship in 2008. I also received a Good Citizenship Metal from The Sons of the American Revolution in 2008. Once I arrived at Kettering I involved myself in clubs like the Firebirds Firebi and Formula SAE. I then discovered the fine gentleman from Beta Theta Pi in the summer of 2008 and pledged in the winter of 2009. From there I quickly involved myself in the organization working my way up through various roles such as Social Chair, Tre Treasurer, asurer, and Vice President. In the summer of 2010 I was elected to the role of Chapter President, a goal I had for myself from the time I joined. During my time as president I have taken advantage of the many opportunities I have had to attended

leadership opportunities through Beta. In this past year alone I’ve been to 3 award winning leadership development programs. I consider myself a very hard working and creative individual.

I rarely find myself satisfied with the status quo, so I constantly push myself and those around me to be creating new opportunities for improvement.

I want to create ways for students to take ownership and pride in Kettering. We have great potential in our student body that I think we fail to use to its full potential. I will help create new ways for students to be actively involved in improving Kettering, boosting school pride, and improving the connection they feel to this University.

5. What has been your biggest success and failure? What have you learned from them?

My greatest success has been my year as the President of Beta Theta Pi. I learned far more than I can fit in 100 words, however it has provided me an invaluable leadership experience that would be well applied to representing my fellow students as the President of Student Senate.

My greatest failure would be at my co-op job not full explaining my background at Kettering and my other work experience, so I was underutilized my. From this I learned it doesn’t matter how much you know if you can’t communicate what you know to others effectively.

6. What is your motivation for wanting to represent the student body via Student Senate?

My motivation comes from seeing some outstanding chances to improve Kettering and wanting to take full advantage of the talented people that go here. They are looking for ways to improve this fine institution, but have thus far not seen the opportunities to do so in any meaningful way. The drive from the student body to help is there; this I can promise you. It is simply a matter of providing them with the opportunities to take action in a bigger way and make the kind’s change they can see and take pride in.

MIKE STEINERT My name is Mike Steinert. I am a senior mechanical engineering student. I am currently the vice president of Student Senate and have served on Finance Council and Academic Council. I have been active on campus since my sophomore year and have stayed involved in various positions inside and outside of Student Government. I feel I am the most qualified candidate for president having served three years on KSG on three of the four branches.

2. What is the one trait you want people to know you for?

I am a devoted individual to the activities I take part in. I pursue goals that I see worthwhile and see them through to the end. When I start a project I work at it until I see desirable results.

3. What is your favorite quote/saying(s)?

“No matter how harsh the winter, spring will always follow.” It doesn’t matter how tough a situation gets. It will always get better so long as you can persevere.

I think communication between everyone is something that would be worthwhile to improve. As president I would like to create a network for student organizations so the leaders can easily communicate with each other to better plan events and goals with less overlap. I would like to continue to work with the Public Relations department to create a newsletter for students so they can stay updated on administrative actions. I would also like to write an article for the Technician each edition. I would also like to have more student – faculty interaction.

5. What has been your biggest success and failure? What have you learned from them?

My biggest success was the reintroduction of Corporate Day. At the start of my term in senate I brought back the idea of bringing a large company on campus which was the recent Chrysler Day event. With this I learned how a simple idea or suggestion can turn into a large event. A large failure would be the revamping of the alumni newsletter for Delta Tau Delta. I was too late in pursuing articles for the newsletter which caused it to be late. There I learned how to better manage people in giving them ample time.

6. What is your motivation for wanting to represent the student body via Student Senate?

I would like to continue voicing the students’ opinions. With such large issues as the proposed calendar change I would like to make the students’ voices heard by the administration. I would like to continue my involvement and give back to the university. I

would have an easy transition to the position of president with my past experiences. I have many goals that I would like to see through and would like to improve KSG to be a much more functional body as the liaison between students and faculty and administration.

MEREDITH BRASSELL Meredith Brassell is a Junior 2 Electrical Engineering major. She is currently the Administrator of Student Senate, a member of Alpha Sigma Alpha and a member of many other Kettering clubs and organizations. She is from Whitehouse, OH and her co-op is with TRW Automotive in Farmington Hills.

2. What is the one trait you want people to know you for?

One trait I want people to know me for would be my dedication. This dedication goes beyond my basic duties as Student Senate Vice-President, and I complete anything that I undertake to the best of my ability.

5. What has been your biggest success and failure? What have you learned from them?

There are many exceptional students at this school, and I would constantly work to ensure that their voices are heard. The students' voices should be heard, especially in issues that affect them directly, like the proposed calendar change. I recognize how passionately students feel about this topic, and it is important that those voices are heard and not disregarded.

My biggest failure is my ambition which has led me to crowd my schedule to the point of imbalance. My greatest success has been overcoming this failure by learning to balance my classes, organizations I am involved in, and social activities. I have been working to perfect this balance since I came to Kettering, and I have used my ambition to move forward while not overburdening myself.

6. What is your motivation for wanting to represent the student body via Student Senate?

I love Kettering, and I want to give back to this university. The best way to accomplish this is through Student Senate. As a member of Senate this past year, I have been able to learn and understand how the organization is run. These experiences have given me the motivation and knowledge to be an effective leader in the Kettering community.

ARIEL CHILDRESS I am a Chemistry major starting my fourth year at Kettering University.

My co-op job is with Detroit Diesel. Being a non-engineering major, I have a unique perspective on the Kettering student experience. Living in the dorms lets me hear from students who are Freshmen to Seniors and science majors to Mechanical Engineers.

I care about people as a group and individually.

In one-hundred words or less, please answer the following questions: 4. What do you think can be improved at Kettering and what steps will you take to accomplish this improvement?

Student moral is the biggest problem at Kettering; which stems from students belief that the upper management will do what they want no matter what.

This can only change by changing the culture at Kettering. From the GM culture of everyone doing his or her job and not knowing what anyone else does to a culture of knowledge.

This can only be accomplished by KSG have communication lines and students using those communication lines including Facebook, e-mails, the Technician, and other sources. Also the students need frank and open discussions, without preapproved questions, with the upper management.

5. What has been your biggest success and failure? What have you learned from them?

I would say that my biggest success was bringing Dance Club back from the brink of disbandment. My Sophomore I term was my first term as President of Dance Club and there were only five members. At the beginning of my Sophomore II term there was only myself. It was only because of advertising and getting my friends interested that the club is here today. My biggest failure was a meeting that no one showed up to. Between the two of them I have learned that advertising will make or break anything. It should be 40% of the planning.

6. What is your motivation for wanting to represent the student body via Student Senate?

I believe that I could represent the student body. I have been involved in clubs since my Freshman I term, and in KSG for the last year. Between my involvement and my time at Kettering I have learned how KSG works and how to accomplish goals that have been given to me by the student body.

RAYMOND HYDER My name is Raymond Hyder, but you can just call me Ray. My hometown is Southgate, MI about an hour and a half south of Kettering. Right now I have a co-op with PiShurlok in Plymouth,MI and am looking forward to returning there next term. I have always felt a need to stay responsible, which is shown through my work ethic and how well I have done in school. Being active on campus is one way of being a responsible student and being on Student Senate is one way that I can be actively involved on campus.

(list academic year, as well as any positions you may have held in any organization) In Kettering I am involved in Student Senate (Freshman Representative), Beta Theta Pi, Aquaneers, cliffhangers (Sophomore I), and Dance Club. In High School I was involved in Marching Band as a trumpet section leader for 2 years, Diving for 3 years with diving captain senior year, rowing for 3 years as a coxswain.

2. What is the one trait you want people to know you for?

I want people to know me for being outgoing. I believe it is important, especially when having a leadership position, to be outgoing in order to accomplish your goals.

I believe that maintenance of Kettering's campus, mostly in the AB, can be improved.

The steps I would take to accomplish improving the campus is setting up a committee of students (possibly headed by one of the senators or myself) to get a poll from students using the AB now and noting which parts need to be improved and bring this before the physical plant and see what can be done to accomplish this improvement of the AB. 5. What has been your biggest success and failure? What have you learned from them?

My biggest success was making it to states for diving my first year. I did learn that with hard work you can go far, but you have to know that you are not going to be the best your first time at doing something.

My biggest failure was that in high school I was not very connected with my friends. I tended to be on the conservative side when it came to hanging out and having fun. I learned that, even though I was able to get good grades and do well in the activities I was involved in, I could have gotten more out of being active socially as well. It would most likely have reduced some stress and improve my high school experience.

6. What is your motivation for wanting to represent the student body via Student Senate?

My motivation for wanting to represent the student body through Student Senate is that I can take what the school needs and what the students want and do something about it.

CANDIDATES FOR ADMINISTRATOR

ZACH JOHNSON I am a hard working determined individual who is very active on campus. I am interested in helping out the student government’s productivity and efficiency.

(list academic year, as well as any positions you may have held in any organization) I currently hold 3 leadership positions at Kettering: I am the Co-Captain of Kettnetic Thunder, the founder and president of the Kettering Chess Club, and the Activities Chair.

2. What is the one trait you want people to know you for?

I want people to know me for my organizational skills.

3. What is your favorite quote/saying(s)?

“Almost only counts in horse shoes and hand grenades.”

In one-hundred words or less, please answer the following questions: 4. What do you think can be improved at Kettering and what steps will you take to accomplish this improvement?

I can help improved the productivity and efficiency of KSG. I can help by analyzing the procedures taken by KSG and presenting an easier faster alternative.

5. What has been your biggest success and failure? What have you learned from them?

My biggest success was passing the first Actuarial Exam in May of this year. Having spent over 250 hours studying for this exam, passing it taught me hard work pays off.

My biggest failure was my grades last summer term. I put other things above school, causing much distraction which led me to forget sources on my final Humanities project; failing the course as a result. This taught me to put school first; as a result I focused on school much more during the winter term and made it to the dean’s list.

6. What is your motivation for wanting to represent the student body via Student Senate?

My motivation is to make a lasting positive impact on the students at Kettering.

EMILY THOMPSON : I am from Rochester Hills. I graduated from Adams High School in 2010 and I am majoring in Applied Mathematics. My Co-op is with Towers Watson in Southfield, Michigan, where I do actuarial work. I have been a member of Alpha Sigma Alpha since Winter of 2011.

2. What is the one trait you want people to know you for?

I would like to be known for my positivity. I try to keep an optimistic view when it comes to a lot of things in my life, and I feel that a positive attitude and a smile can go a long way.

In one-hundred words or less, please answer the following questions: 4. What do you think can be improved at Kettering and what steps will you take to accomplish this improvement?

I believe that the overall attitude of the student population can be improved. This can be accomplished by making changes such as improving the image of KSG, improving safety around and off campus, encouraging more student involvement, and initiating academic changes, such as teaching techniques, office hours, and common hour exams. Although we can’t change everything overnight, in time we will be able to improve the quality of our time here at Kettering.

5. What has been your biggest success and failure? What have you learned from them?

My biggest success was passing my first actuarial exam. I spent well over 400 hours studying for this three hour test, and I learned more than just math in the process. I learned that with dedication and perseverance, you can accomplish anything. My biggest failure was when I failed my first math test at Kettering. I was not only disappointed in myself, but also extremely worried about just making it through the class. I studied harder, and by the end of the term, I was able to raise my grade. I learned that conscious effort is the key to success.

6. What is your motivation for wanting to represent the student body via Student Senate?

I want to represent the student body via Student Senate because I feel that there are many improvements that need to be made and this can be accomplished through Senate. I also want to have a voice in keeping some things the way they are, such as our schedule. I will

represent the student body by communicating your opinions to the rest of Senate so that we can improve our time on campus

SENIOR REPRESENTATIVE

DON EBBEN My Name is Don Ebben and I am running for the Senior Representative position. I am originally from Novi Michigan and came to Kettering to get a hands on educational experience. I currently work at Livio Radio, where I write Android and Iphone applications for streaming internet radio. I have had the unique privilege of representing my class these past two terms and would like to continue to do so as I begin my senior year. If elected, I hope to improve KSG's internal communication as well as communication with the student body and other organizations on campus.

2. What is the one trait you want people to know you for?

The one trait I want people to know me for is my perseverance. One of the many things I learned both in my academic accomplishments here at Kettering University as well as my four years of FIRST robotics was that you cannot give up no matter how daunting the odds.

What do you think can be improved at Kettering and what steps will you take to accomplish this improvement?

I feel that one of the largest shortcomings of KSG as well as other leadership bodies on campus is communication. I feel that communication needs to be improved internally, with the student body as well as with other governing bodies such as IFC and RHA. I feel this can best be facilitated through the use of popular new technologies such as social media and collaborative documents. I have helped to implement both of these technologies within my fraternity and have implemented collaborative documents as an RA in Thompson Hall.

5. What has been your biggest success and failure? What have you learned from them?

My biggest failure by far has been failing to get more involved on campus. I spent my freshmen one term locked in my room concerned about working hard on my academics and finding a job. Kettering offers so much and I took advantage of so little. I learned from this experience, and turned it into my greatest success. During my second term, I followed several upperclassmen role models and became much more involved on campus, starting a new club and joining others. I consider my level of involvement to be my greatest success.

6. What is your motivation for wanting to represent the student body via Student Senate?

For the past academic year I have had the privilege of representing the Junior class. In this position I have learned a great deal about both leadership as well as the concerns of the student body. I would like to continue to representative my class into senior year.

MIKE SCHREIBER I am a Senior I dual major in engineering physics and mechanical engineering. I co-op with General Motors. I am heavily involved in several clubs and organizations on and off campus and I believe I know quite a bit about how KSG operates. I am eager to get more involved on campus to improve student life.

(list academic year, as well as any positions you may have held in any organization) At Kettering I currently hold officer positions in fencing club, physics club, and mobile robotics club. I have also participated in grill club, laser tag club, and outdoors club. I am a student ambassador and tutor in the SARC. Since high school I’ve been heavily involved in FIRST Robotics.

What is the one trait you want people to know you for?

I have never been afraid to call out problems when I see them. I have no problem telling it like it is as long as the issue gets addressed. I believe this is the first step to resolving issues within the community.

“Any man more right than his neighbors constitutes a majority of one.” Henry David Thoreau I’ve always liked this quote because it encourages us to not follow the crowd; just because a consensus is reached does not mean it is the correct one.

I believe the largest problem at Kettering is the student attitude towards the school, faculty, and staff. Many students believe the school doesn’t listen to their opinion. I believe it is possible to improve student attitude by increasing the participation in events in which students can express their opinions, as well as clarifying what groups/events are meant to resolve certain issues. For example, many people are unaware of what student senate even does. How are they supposed to know to come to a meeting to raise an issue?

What has been your biggest success and failure? What have you learned from them?

My biggest failure occurred when I refused to realize that I cannot personally be involved in everything I would like to be. There came a point where I could not balance all of the activities in my life and my performance in all them began to fall. Since then, I have learned to choose my battles. I now would say that my biggest success has been my ability to manage my time, I am able to keep a high GPA, stay involved in quite a few organizations, and still get about 7 hours of sleep a night.

What is your motivation for wanting to represent the student body via Student Senate?

I have always been told there is no point in complaining if you don’t do something about it. Now I finally want to do something. I have spent several years involved in clubs and the student ambassador program; while I have been heavily involved, I feel as though I have not made an impact on the school. I believe KSG – specifically student senate is a better forum to affect the student body and the community.

The one trait people know me for leadership. I have always believed that if I want something done, then it is up to me to do it.

I feel the academic building’s parking situation needs to be addressed again. I would suggest the lower parking lot to continue being “faculty parking only” and the upper lot to become

“student parking only.” I feel the steps needed would involve presenting this suggestion to the school’s faculty and receive their opinions/thoughts. I would also like to create a poll on blackboard asking the student body of their opinions and/or different suggestions.

5. What has been your biggest success and failure? What have you learned from them?

My biggest failure is letting my ego get the best of me. I came into Kettering thinking it would be easy, but I was wrong. Therefore, I did not do as well as I could have during my freshman year. The lesson I have learned was humility. I realized that I had been careless and that I must put forth a lot more effort in order to succeed. My biggest success is my acceptance into Kettering University. This success taught me that dedication and hard work will pay off.

6. What is your motivation for wanting to represent the student body via Student Senate?

My motivation for wanting to represent the student body is to be able to voice my opinions and the opinions of my peers. I have always been a leader; therefore I am very interested in representing Kettering’s senior class. I believe that Kettering can always improve and I would like to partake in helping the school grow.

2. What is the one trait you want people to know you for?

One trait I want people to know me for is being someone who leads by example. I want to earn people’s respect by being the person takes care of a task without pondering for someone else to take care of it.

I feel like the recruitment of quality students is lacking. I would take measures to improving the co op program. The co op is something that Kettering is well known for.

Strengthen the co op and we will strengthen Kettering. I have already initiated measures in my academic council position. I am leading a project that will display students compensation packages. I see this beneficial to students who can now get a better understanding of what other students are making in comparison to their own compensation, but also this puts pressure on co op employers to offer better compensation packages.

5. What has been your biggest success and failure? What have you learned from them?

My biggest success was being awarded Most Valuable Player for my baseball team my senior year. It is an award that stands out to me as a token of respect from my coach. He recognized that I wasn’t the best hitter, hitter, pitcher etc. but he respected the way I approached each day and that I set an example for everyone else to follow.

I learned that doing the things that others refuse to do like caring equipment after practice will earn you respect from the ones who matter.

My biggest failure was my leadership for my pledge class project. I failed to motivate all of my fellow pledges to help with the project.

I want to be more involved on campus and I want to impact Kettering in a positive way and leave it better than I found it. I also seek to gain leadership experience from this role.

DAVID RICHELSON My personal motto is “it's time to roll up my sleeves, get down to business, and kick some butt.” I love going to the movies, reading books, and listening to the Beatles. I take pride in my studies and the clubs I'm involved in at school.

I'd like to see more people involved. I'll be honest, I'm not quite sure how to do this. I'm just thinking that there's a lot of kids out there who are doing the things they enjoy, but aren't getting funding for it. They have to pay out of pocket. I'd like to send out some polls and a few emails to get ideas before I start shooting in the dark.

5. What has been your biggest success and failure? What have you learned from them?

My biggest success is when my team and I took 2nd place in a national windmill competition. I learned that sometimes you have to run before you can learn to walk. We were just four kids who had no idea what we were doing. All we knew is we were going to the national competition. My biggest failure was when I was in 5th grade and my soccer team was relying on me to score a goal. I missed it by that much. I learned that it's just as important to have high goals as it is to have realistic goals.

6. What is your motivation for wanting to represent the student body via Student Senate?

I'd like to join Senate because I want to be more involved in the behind the scenes work. I also like meeting all of the important people such as the provost and the president of Kettering.

I want to be known for my courage. The people who I admire most are people who know what is right and do it despite what others may think. I believe that this is the quality that truly separates a leader from a follower.

Don’t put off for tomorrow what you can do today. I believe this is a must to survive here at Kettering.

I would love to see a more involved campus. Currently I see a small number of people doing almost everything around campus. I believe that many students feel like getting

involved is too much of a chore and don’t realize how rewarding it is. I want to offer way for students to get involved in the Kettering community without the commitment of an official position. I want to do this through a published student forum where student can publish anything from a rant about the cafeteria to a random thought about how to make Kettering better. This could offer students with an opportunity to break from the standardized format of the Technician.

5. What has been your biggest success and failure? What have you learned from them?

My biggest successes at Kettering have been academic. I have done exceptionally well in many of my classes. I have learned from this that the hard work that I put into studying really pays off. While successes can reinforce good behavior, I believe more can be learned from failures. My biggest failure came when I was asked to organize ticket sales for women’s volleyball in high school. I made assumptions and never made concrete conformation for who was selling tickets for the first game and no one showed up. The school lost money and I failed. I learned how important communication is and improved the system.

6. What is your motivation for wanting to represent the student body via Student Senate?

I want to serve on Student Senate because I want to make Kettering a better community to live in. I find that for such a small student body Kettering students know only a very small percentage of their peers. I want to try and get students who rarely leave their house out and active in the community. I feel like I am the best candidate for this position because of my experience in clubs at Kettering and my social interactions with people outside of my Fraternity.

MARIA GOODPASTER Hi! My name is Maria Goodpaster and I am from Hershey, Pennsylvania. My major is Industrial Engineering and I chose Kettering because of the co-op and academic programs. My co-op is with The Hershey Company and my two favorite things to do are to play the harp and ice skate. I would be a good freshman representative because I care about the freshman class and have the qualities that defy others to make my voice heard and to improve the lives of Kettering students. If I am elected as freshman representative I promise that I will put forth 100% of my effort to properly represent the class of 2016.

Kettering: Society of Women Engineers, Institute of Industrial Engineers, Newman club, harp, and figure skating High school: community service projects, fundraising and coordinating a mission trip to Louisa, Kentucky, several choirs, 4-H, church youth group, and academic tutoring.

2. What is the one trait you want people to know you for?

To improve our community as whole I would address the issue of the student’s complaints and talk to a committee to resolve the issues given forth by the students.

5. What has been your biggest success and failure? What have you learned from them?

My biggest success was securing a co-op with The Hershey Company and my biggest failure was losing a figure skating competition. The lesson learned is that to succeed you have to apply all of your effort.

6. What is your motivation for wanting to represent the student body via Student Senate?

My motivation is that I care about the freshman class and possess the leadership qualities and motivation to represent the class of 2016.

ALAN TURNER Hi, my name is Alan Turner. I attended Clawson public schools for 12 years and now am a freshman at Kettering University. I am unsure of what I want to do with my life, but I know I want to be one of the best in my field; naturally I was drawn to Kettering. I am flexible, understanding and fair, and I hope that I will be able to serve the freshman class as their representative on the student senate.

In high school I was involved in the Clawson varsity tennis team for 4 years, the marching band for 4 years, and was captain FIRST robotics team 3302 for 2 years. I am involved in fencing club, gamer’s society and radio club at Kettering.

What is the one trait you want people to know you for?

If I could only be known for one trait, it would be Justice. Justice, equity, fairness, are essential for a strong governing body, and I believe my personality shows these qualities.

In my time at Kettering University, I hope my character traits are shown and hope justice is served.

3. What is your favorite quote/saying(s)?

My favorite quote is one by United States president John Adams: “Always stand on principle… even if you stand alone.” I heard this once from a wise old man, and ever since then I have strived to live by this maxim.

I believe that individual students can be better represented on campus. To improve representation I will make a Facebook group for the freshman class. This Facebook group would allow students to participate in polls about topics on campus and to bring up any questions, concerns, or comments they have regarding student life. This would also allow me as class representative to inform my classmates on policies that have been changed and receive feedback or criticism about the choices made. This would necessarily improve the accuracy of student representation.

5. What has been your biggest success and failure? What have you learned from them?

My greatest failure occurred during my freshman year of high school when I decided to play a difficult song for solo & ensemble without much practice; I received a rating of III which is like a C. It was this moment that I realized victory requires hard work and dedication. My greatest success was senior year in AP Physics class when we build a trebuchet in my basement for a snowball fight at school. I had to gather everyone for

several Saturdays of building and learned the importance of planning when attempting a task.

6. What is your motivation for wanting to represent the student body via Student Senate?

When I was in middle school I loved the idea of student government. Planning meetings, affecting school policies and getting all the best food back in the lunch room. Sadly student government was not how I envisioned. It amounted to planning dances, and fundraising for dances, both of which I didn’t want to do. Now that I am in college, and student government can actually have an effect on the school, I want to be a part of the positive change, and provide a way for anyone who wants to invoke change the opportunity to do so.
