At the best of times elections are complicated, dividing events that are discussed at length. This year’s election could be described as less than a model example. Many Americans are confused and even more are angry about what has been happening. Boisterous opinions are constantly bombarding all of us, from neighbors, coworkers, friends and family. It makes this into a stressful time of year and it’s why you hear people saying they can’t wait until the election is over. Another settlement has been reached in the case of Osceola based NeuroScience, Inc., Pharmasan Labs, Inc. and their 75-year-old founder, Gottfried Kellermann, this time with criminal implications. The settlement stems

from allegations by the U.S. Attorney’s office that Kellermann and his companies violated laboratory testing requirements and manipulated test data. The agreement comes less than a year after the companies reached a separate civil settlement with the U.S. Attorney’s office regarding Medicare billing fraud. After the L.O. Simenstad nursing home closed in 2008 Osceola went three years without a home set aside for its elderly citizens. At some point during this period the Osceola Medical Center (OMC) formed a taskforce, headed by Jeff Meyer, former CEO of the medical center, to explore options for creating a new nursing home in Osceola. This taskforce approached Christian Community Homes (CCH) in Hudson, Wis. and eventually the two organizations partnered to open the CCH in Osceola. As both were non-profits with similar
business models, according to Natalie Rivard, CCH’s campus administrator in Osceola, the partnership was, and still seems to be, a good fit. Prior to the home opening the organization had raised $1.75 million in donations. These included monetary, land, and items donated to CCH. Since opening, Rivard shared, “there has been a lot of on-going support.” This support has allowed the organization to build a remarkable facility. Even the layout was deeply thought through; the halls follow a neat, short, square pattern to lessen confusion for resi-
