The fivepiece includes two guitars, a bass, percussion and female lead vocalist, and their set list includes classic and current rock picked to get crowds dancing (7:30 to 11:30 p.m. on the Main Stage). Saturday afternoon, fairgoers will hear a more mellow sound from acoustic rock and country duo Wade & Ella. The Hudson-based pair met at an open mic in River Falls in 2013 and has been performing together since. They strive to make each song their own, whether it’s an old country by Johnny Cash or a recent hit by The Lu-

Last year, Polk County saw its suicide rate spike to 14 — twice the average of the previous five years. Although it’s too soon to tell whether the increase was happenstance or part of a larger trend, many found the phenomenon alarming. Rather than turn her grief inward, the mother of one of those 14 is sharing her loss with the community in the hope of saving the lives of others.

Wheels and Wings to celebrate female aviators Event features Minnesota Ninety-Nines and the Julie Clark Airshow CHISAGO COUNTY SHIERIFF’S OFFICE
An international female pilot organization, the Ninety-Nines, will host an aviation advocacy learning center at this year’s Wheels and Wings celebration, Sept. 10, the Osceola Wheels and Wings Board announced last week. The international nonprofit organization has thousands of members across 35 countries. Its mission is to promote the advancement of aviation through education, scholarships and mutual support while sharing a passion for flight. The Ninety-Nines’ learning center curriculum at Wheels and Wings will focus on educating young aviatrixes on the basic forces of flight and future career opportunities in the aviation field.
