Lamparaan 2020 shines virtually with a blast

PHINMA University of Pangasinan (UPang), together with the Supreme Student Council (SSC), transformed the traditional celebration of Lamparaan into Virtual Lamparaan, a two-day event on December 13-14, 2020 with the theme “Burn Bright: Lighting People’s Lives with Christmas Spirit.”
The competitions conducted by the council are – Poster making, Parol making, and virtual carol competition highlighted the event receiving thousands of reactions and amazement of the fellow Flames as students from the different departments of the university showcased their talents not only through their singing, crafting, and poster-making skills, but also kudos to the students behind these virtual events like the editors of the carol entries, and photographers of Parol making and poster making contests.

The Poster Making Competition winners are – First Place: Justine Mari M. Dalisay (Entry No.12) of I – BS Accountancy with Php. 3,000; Second Place: Ahden Ganaganag (Entry No. 4) of I – BS Architect with Php. 2,000; and Third Place: Junelyn C. Lamsen (Entry No. 1) of I – BS Nursing with Php. 1,500. On Parol Making Competition, the winners are – First Place: Maureen Ysabel F. Enrique (Entry No. 12), III – BSA of Junior Philippine Institute of Accountants (JPIA) with Php. 5,000, Second Place: A-Jay Q. Mejia (Entry No.8), V – BSARC of United Architects of the Philippines Student Auxiliary (UAPSA) with Php. 3,000, and Third Place: Christian Chloe L. Castro (Entry No. 5), Grade 11 – ABM of Senior High Athletes Association with Php. 2,500. Lastly, the Virtual Carol Competition has participated by all the departments and the winners are – First Place: College of Management and Accountancy (CMA) with Php. 10,000, Second Place: College of Social Sciences (CSS) with Php. 7,000, and Thrid Place: College of Arts and Sciences (CAS) with Php. 5,000.
Lamparaan is an annual celebration, particularly every December at the PHINMA-UPang Avenue. This year, conducting a traditional Lamparaan is a big challenge to everyone in the university especially to the student council. A successful virtual event like this is one of the legacies that the university will always commemorate.
