College of Management and Accountancy Student Council (CMASC) of PHINMA - University of Pangasinan (UPang) conducted a webinar via Facebook on Monday, September 6, with the theme "New Normal: Crafting a Good Research.”
According to Sandrea Carms Sapera, Governor of the CMASC, it is difficult for students to research with this new setup, so this webinar aims to give students a better insight into research. "We wanted them to feel na hindi naman nakakatakot ang research," she said. In preparation for the event, CMASC administered a dry run to ensure a smooth flow.

In an interview with the resource speaker Dr. Gladys Navarro - Dean of the College of Social Sciences (CSS), she pointed out that her realization when she entered PHINMA UPang was that there is not much attention put into research. "Students see it as an academic requirement, but what they do not see is it provides them a sort of skill," said Navarro.
She developed a tool to assist students in understanding research fast effectively, which she imparted during the webinar. Moreover, she said that this simple activity "serves as a guide to a lot of opportunities to come up with several titles."
Conducting academic-related webinars is of prime importance nowadays because, in her opinion, it bridges the gap of a physical classroom. Students are too overwhelmed knowing that pieces of information are at the tip of their fingers.
"Webinars are a good venue for this because a resource speaker put lots of information in just 1 or 2 hours, which you could have wasted 5 hours, or even days searching for this information." Navarro stated. "I'm not saying that webinars are a substitute to your learning, but webinars are supposed to complement whatever the gaps that you miss in your classroom."
Sapera noted that the CMASC is already working on virtual activities that will be of great help to students, like the CMA Research Webinar 2.0 and Personality Development and Entrepreneurship Week. The CMASC will also be conducting the CMA Palakasan, which was a virtual success last school year. The students received their E-Certificates of attendance after completing the online Evaluation form of the CMA Research Webinar.
