Our world needs

great vision. Stony Brookers are learning to see beyond. In an ever-changing world, where today’s innovations will soon be out-lapped by tomorrow’s, we need life-long learners who don’t just wait for answers but keep asking the right questions. We need leaders who transform information into insight. And we need citizens who approach their communities with eyes for the common good. We seek to cultivate in every student the vision needed to be the leaders of the future. This vision is what becoming a Brooker is all about. S EE B EYO N D I N FOR M AT I O N T O A P P L I CAT I ON. ACADEMIC LIFE Ou r w or ld n e ed s li f e -long learners.

Our curriculum guides students to ask life’s big questions and to develop your own answers, at your own pace—because the answers to these questions will order how you live the rest of your lives. Our students are entering a world where information is abundant and innovation happens so quickly we don’t always question whether it is good. We need a generation of learners who look past face value to analyze and synthesize, to compare and contrast, and to see a problem through multiple lenses. FAITH FORMATION Ou r w or l d n e ed s c on v i c t i on h old ers.

At Stony Brook, we believe you can’t truly engage the mind without also engaging the heart. Our Christian faith is why our teachers devote themselves not only to the excellence but the character of our students. Chapel is an important part of our weekly community rhythm, and student prayer groups and Bible studies are a vital practice for many. Through our Bible Curriculum and Faith and Culture in the 21st Century seminar, we challenge each student, no matter your faith perspective, to deeply examine and articulate what you believe.

COMMUNITY LIFE Ou r wor ld n e ed s re lati on sh i p bui ld ers.

Stony Brook is more than a school; we are a family. The exceptional diversity of the students provides a rare opportunity to build deep friendships with people beyond your own culture. And the unparalleled attention of dedicated faculty, almost all of whom live either in a dorm or in a house bordering our campus, allows you to learn from meaningful relationships with adults beyond your own parents. Our seven single-gender dorms are a bedrock of community and fun not only for boarders but day students as well.

LEADERSHIP DEVELOPMENT Ou r wor ld n e ed s op p or tuni ty seekers.

At Stony Brook, student leadership is focused on servant leadership. With a plethora of positions in which to serve, our multi-level leadership program is designed as much for the individual student leaders as for the flourishing of the community at large. Our student leaders develop the skills, language, awareness, and vision needed for effective leadership— leadership that not only catalyzes success but serves our surrounding community and world.
