Gilchrist/Star G Ranch Auction Barn, 12144 Dove Avenue, DOUDS, IOWA • Serving lunch at 12:00 Noon prior to auction at 1:00 pm
Welcome to the Star G Ranch & Friends Auction 2025!
In many Red Angus catalogs over the past 41 years, I have said these are unprecedented times for various world-influencing events and pressures on agriculture and the cattle industry. This year, all I can say is WOW – what a beef cattle market we are experiencing!
This year, the Star G Ranch is offering the entire crop of our first calf heifers – most with calf at side by auction time! All of the cattle in this catalog represent females from the top of each breeder’s herds and I am excited to have the operations join us for our annual Red Angus offering. The owner of each lot and their contact information is included in this catalog – feel free to reach out to any of them if you would like more details about their animals/genetics or their operation. This is an extremely high-quality offering of some of the best Red Angus genetics in the country and include fall cow/calf pairs; spring bred females, open heifers, embryos, semen, 2 bulls and a fantastic set of commercial females. Because this auction is held at the Star G Ranch Auction Barn, we are able to hold cattle for several days or a week or two until trucking can be arranged. We will certainly assist in putting loads together to make trucking as easy and economical as possible. While the 2025 Star G Ranch & Friends offering is smaller than in the past – stay tuned in – we may have some exciting commercial female additions from herds around the country that will offer cattle by video F.O.B. at their ranch locations on auction day!
If you cannot attend, please join us via DVAuction with Addy McDowell or contact any of the buyer representatives listed. They will be more than willing to assist you and answer any questions you may have or bid on your behalf at the auction.
Enjoy this cattle market! From all expert reports and the current U.S. cowherd numbers, this market looks very vibrant for the next several years.
We appreciate your interest in our cattle and look forward to seeing you on the ranch October, 10th & 11th.
Best Regards,
Kyle Gilchrist

A horse of a different color. Grace 115 is the daughter of a Black Angus cow by New Level that maintained a 365 day calving interval until her last calf at age 15. Always weaned a heavy, marketable calf. She also raised the highest indexing bull at the Illinois Performance Tested Bull Sale. Grace 115 was the heaviest weaning heifer in her contemporary group. She is big topped, square hipped and bold ribbed with an attracttive udder. She raised a chunky bull calf last year that is up at Gillls in SD. If she is half the cow her mom was you will be happy with her.
Fran 127’s dam is one of many Hard Drive sired flush sisters we have out of the Brylor Fran 182A cow. These cows are all exceptional females that produce stout, good looking bulls and females that have sold extremely well. With the 24Y cow now deceased and having been flushed well over 30 times in her life we are very shy on inventory out of this beautiful Mulberry dtr. She could be old Mulberry’s most prolific and productive offspring in captivity!(and there has been a pile of them over the years!) We have sold embryos from her to more countries now than i can even count ....... let alone travelled to. The sire is maybe the old Resource 137E bull’s most favourable son He was a $130,000 high seller at the U2 bull sale a while back and has bred extremely well over the last few years. If you havent tried to acquire a couple of the very good old 24Y cow’s embryos -here is an opportunity to do so. She wasn’t flushed that many times in her wonderful career as a phenomenal Donor cow to build up a large inventory to sit on!! She has worked so very well through her remarkable calves all over the world.

Back in 2022 a group of 10 breeders from around the Planet started a company called the International Fabulous Females Group ( I F F G ). We collectively purchased some of the best Donor cows around out of Various sales ( The 50th RRUP and the WRAZ dispersal to name a couple of them). 4F was one of our selections at Phil Birnies final sale at $11,500 that day and she’s been great since. She is one of Assassin’s strongest ,stoutest and most massive dtrs to date! Her first son for us topped a bull sale up North for $15,500 to JAS red angus. She’s amazing! The sire used here on her is the high selling bull calf at the 50th Anniversary sale of Red Roundup in Canada at $26,000 for a 1/3 int.(Fraser Farms in Manitoba) He is a Minburn Copenhagen son from the Cherished Reba 49D cow at Brylor. His first progeny have been overwhelmingly received wherever and whenever sold thus far. See more on him in one of his last few lots of semen in this sale that will ever be offered in the USA again. This is the last of this mating to be offered so lock it up at the Star G Ranch and Friends event this October!

GILCHRIST HIGH ENDURANCE
High Endurance was the $26,000 high seller from the ‘17 Red Alliance Auction in Shawnee, Oklahoma. He offers tremendous growth and performance with extreme meat and muscle in his progeny. He is most noted for siring
Gilchrist Royal Peacock and the ET flushmate sisters from the legendary – VF Flo Marie 1650-245.
GILCHRIST GRAND SLAM 244K
Grand Slam is the newest addition to the Star G Ranch lineup (owned in partnership with Kemen Farms of Minnesota). He offers calving ease with extreme body depth and expression of rib shape. His incredible EPD set includes a top 2% ProS, 3% HB, 8% GM and a 2% STAY. Watch for his influence in the coming years in both Kemen & Star G Ranch herds.
GILCHRIST ROYAL PEACOCK
Royal Peacock is a combination of true genetic growth power with a classy look. As his daughters come into production, we are loving their productivity and his sons were some of our Red Reckoning Bull Auction top sellers last March (primarily going to Oklahoma & Texas). A son of the incomparable VF Flo Marie 1650-245, he will add length, performance and style to his progeny.
BADLANDS OPPORTUNITY 53Y
Opportunity was a bull we had the privilege to buy with Sandy Marching (ND) and Paul Fehrman Family (MN) from the Badlands Red Angus Bull Auction in North Dakota. He was ranked as a top 1% WW & YW then and has never waivered from that top 1% status (now with 81% accuracies and over 400 head of progeny recorded). We sold him in the 2015 NWSS Mile High Classic Auction for $54,000 to Bar 4A / Brylor Ranch / Table Butte Ranch of Canada. This dude will add pounds to your calf crop!

Due 1/22/2026 to Feddes Amsterdam (4787662). Called safe on 9/4/2025.

A descendent of the great Brylor Fran 182A cow and sired by PIE Cinch , Fran 103 is a very nice dark red, moderate framed cow with an ideal udder and good disposition. She has a very good set of EPDs that are ideal for raising calving ease, growthy, carcass oriented bulls. Bred to Confident. the females are outstanding and the bulls are outcross genetics in a desirable package..

Brylor is in a few of Gilchrist Auctions again this fall and are offering the last remaining inventory of this amazing young herd sire for all to share in the USA. Copenhagen 9K is no longer producing viable /freezable semen so here is the last of his inventory in this country. He is an ET son of our phenomenal cow Reba 49D who has averaged $19,055 on her 1st 9 sons sold!! And everyone remembers the Copenhagen 3Y daughters at the U2 dispersal averaging over $14,000 on 30 of them! We love this mating so much that Reba is back in the Embryo Station to flush again to get some full sisters for ourselves The very first 2 sons of 9K topped 2 different bull sales in Canada this past spring at $15,500 and $14,000!

He is also very easy calving..Many outfits have built their cowherd around these Blk / Red Carrier bulls now known as Purple’s! He was a $20,000 1/2 interest bull as a calf back in 2022. His first daughter topped the Manitoba magic sale last fall and his sons were very well accepted at 4 different bull sales in the north country. He is a son of the Denver and Canadian Agribition Gr Champion bull -- Conley South Point. His dam is the world renown cow called Reba 49W. We have 3 full sisters to this bull and they are all top of their class! Rumor has it that he is going to be a feature sire at the Reds On The Prairie event in Brooking’s next month.
