Harrogate Preview
Full house for Harrogate And there is such a thing as a free lunch!
It’s full ahead for Harrogate - organisers have exceeded expectations for exhibitor bookings for September’s flooring show with over 110 companies now signed up. “We’re delighted with the response - this is going to be a very special show,” says David Wildman of the Harrogate Flooring Show. “The support has been fantastic from manufacturers and we have got a lot to show visitors when we open next month.”
The Harrogate Flooring Show starts on Sunday, September 5th, and continues on Monday 6th and Tuesday 7th.The Sunday opening is new to flooring events at Harrogate and the exhibition centre is celebrating by laying on a traditional Yorkshire Sunday roast for free – you’ll just need a ticket from one of the sponsoring exhibitors, so get there early!
And event organisers have added free wi-fi and a free shuttle bus service to the railway station and main hotels – and even to the airport if you pre-book with the organisers office.
“This event is going to be free and easy for visitors and we aim to put a bit of fun back into flooring shows – making it a real event for everyone involved,” says David. “We’re hoping some people will visit Harrogate for a leisurely weekend as well as taking in the show – it’s a great town to relax in.”

Discounted hotel rates have been negotiated with rooms starting at £70 per night.
Exhibitor bookings were already ahead of target before alternative show organisers UBM cancelled their NEC Birmingham event which was to be held in the same week as Harrogate. Several key exhibitors immediately switched to Harrogate adding to the main players who had already planned their participation.
“We are in the happy position of not having much left of the space we had allocated to this event,” said David. “But it would be good to see some more of the smaller suppliers joining in – a three metre square stand is less than £1000 and 15 square metres is still available for less than £2000, including the shell scheme.”
Main players for the event include Abingdon, Asiatic, Associated Weavers, Carpenter, Cormar, Edel Telenzo, Furlong, IVC, Lano, Penthouse, Rama, Ulster and Victoria Carpets. A full list is given on the show’s website. In addition to the trade stands, there is a full programme of free seminars and workshops – including practical sessions on installation techniques. There is also a seminar about Carpet Recycling and British Wool are presenting in the Queen Suite on Monday. And for those who like even more freebies, there is a drinks reception in the beautifully refurbished Royal Hall Theatre on Sunday at 5.30pm and Ardex are celebrating their 50th with a celebratory drink in the Queens Suite at the same time on Monday. Afterwards on the Monday, there’s a special comedy night in the Royal Hall Theatre which is open to flooring visitors - see page 52. T 01423 779967
