UST when you thought you already own too many bags, Guess introduces new edgy totes, stylish satchels, and quirky backpacks that you know, you need to have.
BETTER THAN BASIC GONE are the days when female is seen as the passive and meek gender. Today’s young women are outspoken, confident, and knowledgeable. She strives to make a statement in everything she does—from social media updates she posts to the cosmetics she uses.
The American lifestyle brand rolls out the first batch of its Fall 2017 bag collection in the Philippines, just in time for the holiday season. Guess Bags’s latest pieces exude a youthful vibe as they feature a mixture of designs, a spectrum of bright colors, and a variety of fabrics. Guess Philippines merchandising ladies manager Clarish Barundia says the handbags’s trendy styles and designs aim to attract the growing millennial market. “Basically, most of our customers are the Gen X: working individu-

als and mothers; those who have purchasing power. This time, however, we really want to target millennials that’s why we have a selection of backpacks, which is one of the key looks for this collection,” relates Barundia. Young professionals and students who prefer to carry their stuff in a bag on their back, can choose from a backpack with studs or a backpack with fur that Guess offers. But aside from this now ubiquitous style, Guess Bags’s Fall 2017 collection also caters to the nonbackpack carrying crowd with its satchels and totes. The latest collection is divided into three categories, namely Party in the Front, Flower Power, and Modern Vintage. Party in the Front is the for the edgy fashionista who wants to showcase her punk rock persona with travel-friendly handbags adorned with big embellishments, such as studs, chains, and charms. Flower Power, meanwhile, keeps the floral trend alive with satchels and handbags upgraded with colorful embroidered floral prints stitched on the front of the silhouettes. Finally, Modern Vintage, according to Barundia, is composed of handbags from the brand’s previous collections that are updated “with a twist.” Prices of Guess Bags’s Fall 2017 collection range from P3,000 to P7,000.
