MAŁGORZATA GUROWSKA Nascida em 1977. Trabalha na área gráfica, desenho, vídeo arte e instalação. É formada pela Academia de Belas Artes de Varsóvia onde trabalha atualmente e também uma das idealizadoras da Fundação “Fundacja Sztuczna”. Em seu trabalho se concentra em questões de ordem social, política e em particular, descreve criticamente a relação entre o homem e os animais. Suas obras fazem podem ser classificadas como pós-humanismo, é vencedora de inúmeros prêmios nacionais e internacionais além de ter apresentado seu trabalho em várias exposições dentro e fora da Polônia. Vive e trabalha em Varsóvia. Born in 1977. She works in graphic design, drawing, video art, and installations. She is a graduate and employee of the Academy of Fine Arts in Warsaw. She has co-created the Sztuczna Foundation. Her work focuses on social and political issues, particularly critical descriptions of relationships between people and animals. Her work might be called post-humanist. She has won both Polish and international awards, including numerous exhibitions at home and abroad. She lives and works in Warsaw.

Otimização é um termo da economia que faz referência à maximização dos lucros e minimização dos custos, também define e descreve a presente relação do homem com os animais, exceto o amor de animais de estimação, que muitas vezes recebem o status de um membro da família. Há uma diferença entre a atitude para com os animais de estimação e outros animais. O dualismo se reflete no tratamento de animais que expressam uma justaposição de duas silhuetas reconhecíveis, um gato selvagem, a onça negra brasileira e o cão selvagem, o lobo cinzento da Polônia. Ambas espécies estão em perigo e estritamente protegidas. As obras se completam, mas obviamente não exploram a complexidade da questão da “relação do homem com os animais” o e seus muitos aspectos, políticos, económicos, psicológicos, e acima de tudo, éticos. No território da Polónia e Brasil, podemos encontrar muitas espécies animais ameaçadas. Esta atitude antropocêntrica torna legitimo o tratamento de outras espécies, animais não-humanos, objetivando e discriminando-os no campo mais importante, o direito à vida e à liberdade. -

Optimization, an economical term referring to maximizing the profits and minimizing the costs, defines and describes the present relationship of man and the animals (except the love for pets, which often are assigned the status of a family members). There is a gap between the attitude towards the pets and the other animals. I expressed this dualism in the treatment of animals in the juxtaposition of two recognizable silhouettes: wild cat - black jaguar, a resident of Brazil and wild dog - the gray wolf, a Polish citizen. Both of these species are endangered and strictly protected. The works complement each other, but do not explore of course, a complex issue of the “man’s relation to animals” and its many aspects - political, economical, psychological, and above all ethical.

On the territory of Poland and Brazil, we can find many endangered species of animals. This anthropocentric attitude legitimizes treating other species, non-human animals, objectively and discriminating them in the most important field - the right to life and freedom.
