The first step in the wedding invitation process is to narrow down an overall design aesthetic. This can be done by chatting with your stationer, browsing their gallery, looking at physical samples of their work, and discussing with them the look and theme of your wedding. Once the invitation design comes together to show off your desired look, the details come to play! The details are my favorite part of a design because they are small things that can make a significant impact and are a great way to add a personal touch! Imagine the excitement of getting the mail and seeing a bold envelope color with vintage postage stamps. I know

that gets me pumped for whatever is inside that envelope! You go to open it and come across a gorgeous custom wax seal. Upon opening the envelope, your eye is drawn towards a stunning envelope liner pattern that you discover perfectly matches the invitation suite inside. Maybe all of the pieces are in a pocketfold or held together by a ribbon or bellyband. It’s all of those small details that have come together to make this more than just a simple wedding invitation but a personalized invite to a special event in your life. So, when you are ready to begin working on your invitation design, absolutely take the time to focus on the different cards and the look of each, but don’t forget the small details too!
