Thomas goes on to explain, “The garage will be very much part of the ECA programme, where we will teach students basic mechanics, but also look to build and learn about sand buggies and 4x4s! We will also be working closely with the Engineering team, where we will become involved in the F1 in Schools competition at a senior level. The Engineering department will also be offering Design Tech and Engineering to A Level, alongside The Home Economic Team, where we will offer a Food Prep and Nutrition course during the school day”.

However, there are big plans ahead for the Home Economics suite, which has a fully fitted stainless steel kitchen, with 12 ovens, offering 24 cooking stations. “We will be looking to run some very exciting ECAs from the kitchen, and I am looking forward to starting an annual ‘bakeoff’ competition here at the school for the students. But it will not end there, as I see a parent bake-off in the foreseeable future, alongside many culinary workshops. I know there is a wealth of talent in our parent body, and I will be welcoming our mums and dads the opportunity to teach us all their favourite dishes first-hand in a Master Class programme that we will offer too.

In addition, we have had offers of master classes from the Ayla, Rotana and Golf Club executive chefs too”. Thomas concluded with, “I am very excited about this new STEAM (Science, Engineering, Arts and Media) Centre. It will be something completely different and will offer something quite unique for our children, parents and staff alike.” The centre is due to be completed in the next couple of months and we cannot wait to see the finished article!
