When you’re buying new furniture, it is important to make sure that the pieces chosen will be able to fit into your home. This guide, put together by our professional installation team, will help you to measure your space to ensure our delivery team can get it through the door and into place.

The dimensions of each product are shown in the technical information on our website, so that you can refer to these while you measure up.

Door Access

Common problems include narrow door frames. Open your door as wide as possible and measure the distance between the outer edge of the door to the inner edge of your doorframe at its narrowest point. Compare the width of your doorframe with the height of your sofa, allowing some wiggle room.

If the width of your front door is too narrow, our delivery team can try to bring your sofa through upright. In this instance, measure the height of your doorway making sure that it is greater than your sofa width. www.thesofaandchair.co.uk

Stairs

Measure the width of your staircase at its narrowest point. Remember to take any handrails or light fixtures into account.

Once at the top of the stairs, make sure there is enough room on the landing for our delivery team to maneuverer your sofa into the right room.

Lifts

If your building has a lift that we’ll need to use, measure the open-door height, width and depth to make sure your furniture will fit inside. Please also inform us of the weight the lift is able to take, as we will need to take this into account.

Where access may be limited, we are able to adjust many of our designs using bolt on arms and backs for ease of delivery. Simply let us know your concerns and we will make any necessary arrangements.
