MAKE NEW FRIENDS I GAIN NEW SKILLS I STAND OUT FROM THE CROWD
College is much more than just your academic qualifications.
At The Sixth Form Bolton, we believe in developing the whole person as we want you to achieve your full potential in and out of the classroom. As a B6 student, you will have the opportunity to take part in our extensive enrichment programme, this includes a wide range of career and life enhancing activities, clubs and societies.
Enrichment teaches you new skills and builds on your existing subject knowledge to make you stand out from the crowd when applying for university or employment. It is also a great way for you to make new friends and have fun.
Key skills that both employers and universities are looking for include:
Determination
Resilience
Organisation
Perseverance
Motivation
Confidence
Self-esteem
B6 offers a wide range of enrichment activities which you can take part in alongside your academic studies. Although this is completely optional, we believe in creating a balance between studying for your qualifications and doing something you find personally rewarding.
Activities vary each year and are tailored to student demand. To see our latest enrichment offer please scan here.
Sport enrichment is your opportunity to lead an active and healthy lifestyle whilst enhancing your student experience at B6.
We offer all students the chance to take part in different activities which are free to The Sixth Form Bolton students. It is an excellent way to meet new people and make new friends, whilst potentially learning a new skill and being physically active.
B6 is outstanding at providing our learners with opportunities to enhance their essential wider skills. The B6 Rich reward scheme celebrates this. The seven key B6 Rich wider skills that we aim to develop are:
• English
• Maths
• Contribution to society/Citizenship
• Appreciation of Diversity/Equality of Opportunity
• Fundamental British Values/College Values
• Employability and Personal Development
• Digital
When students perform well in these areas, or make personal progress, they are awarded with B6 Coin in the relevant skill category. At the end of each term the ‘richest’ students in each category receive a B6 Rich badge, a certificate and a £50 voucher.
At The Sixth Form we recognise that for our students to become successful professionals, students must develop both their academic abilities and work readiness. All students will take part in The Professional Growth Programme, a bespoke programme that supports you to develop your employability skills and industry knowledge through engaging live sessions and interactive online content, developed with industry experts and tailored to your career aspirations.
Enrichment is a great way to develop skills that will enhance your future career opportunities. Hear from a few of our former successful students:

Dominic Prashant Patel Freelance Theatre Technician & Lighting Designer“After College, I progressed onto the University of Hull where I graduated with a degree in Music. Whilst at B6, I joined the Soul Band and assisted the performing arts enrichment during their musical productions. I would say any form of enrichment activity is truly valuable to anyone, especially if you’re not sure what you want to do after college. The skills and connections I learnt while doing something I enjoyed really helped boost my confidence.”
Join our Learner Voice, a team of proactive young people that act as a student council, representing the student body and making positive changes for all.
Or you may wish to become a Student Ambassador. B6 Student Ambassadors help represent The Sixth Form in a variety of activities, including:
• Open Events
• New Student Day
• School Taster Days
• Charity Events
• Careers Events
• School Presentations
Anna Lewis Legal Risk Executive“After leaving the Sixth Form, I went on to read Law at Manchester Metropolitan University where I graduated with a 2:1. I currently work as a Legal Risk Executive at a Fire Engineering firm. The Law Society helped me develop my confidence, emotional intelligence and communications skills, all of which support me in my current role, as I participate in client negotiations and meetings with lawyers. My enrichment really helped me to lay the foundation which has supported me both at university and now in my current career.”
