Details matter! Make sure to do your due diligence when meeting with Job Seekers. Ask questions like:

Get specific – not just construction, what type? » Why did they leave previous positions? » What kind of interviews have they had in the past? What did they like? What didn’t they like?

• To assist with “ghosting”, address it with your job seekers. If you see my number, answer – I’ve got something great to share with you. And if you don’t like it, just tell me no!

Pro-Tip: interviewing is also a great way to assist with Client leads by asking questions like, “how did you get your previous job?” and, “who was your hiring manager?”

PHIL’S GOLDEN RULES TO PREP YOUR JOB SEEKER: •

No one wants to read war and peace instructions about what they need to do to nail their interview. Call them with details and follow up with an email. Personal outreach will convey excitement!

Set the stage with a compliment to provide confidence – “You interview well, but there are a few things that matter most when interviewing.”

1. The interview is about the employer, as they are describing the position to you, anything that you may have done that is similar, describe in detail what you did.

2. If it’s true, end with “I loved doing that.”

3. If you want this job, end with a strong closing – “Thank you so much for inviting me in, I have really enjoyed talking to you. I want you to know that everything you described is exactly what I’m interested in, I’m really looking forward to hearing from you.” ...But only say it if you mean it!*

Dawson has partnered with Columbus State to introduce Accelerated Training Centers to upskill the underemployed in our communities.

Participants receive hands-on training at our Reynoldsburg location at no-cost. Current programs include Customer Service, Logistics, and Manufacturing. Dawson’s team interviews each participant with the first opportunity for placement.

To fill in the few of you who are new around here, Dawson’s Hospitality House at the Memorial Tournament is the most anticipated premier summer event for both Clients, prospects, and Colleagues alike.

We will have invitations (both digital and material) available for Clients and prospects in early May. Even if you have a client who can’t join our party, these invitations are a great opportunity to reach out and make a connection.

Dawson will be serving lunch, snacks, and plenty of ice-cold adult beverages throughout the day. Our guests are encouraged to come for the party and enjoy the view of the course – it’s a killer spot by the fifth hole – or to stop by on their way to or from the tournament.

Wise Words from your 2022 Dawson MVP “There were a lot of deserving nominees for this award, particularly Mel and Katrina, and I’m very grateful to have been nominated and are humbled to have won this year.

If 2020 was the craziest year we’ve ever had for staffing, then 2021 was a close second, but what always rings true is that if there’s anything predictable about people it’s that they’re unpredictable. While I’m certain we’ll continue to face new challenges, what makes Dawson special is that we’re able to adapt, so I couldn’t be more proud of the year we’ve had despite adversity.

Cooking for a Cause Our first Team Cuisine volunteer opportunity was Wednesday, March 2 at the Ronald McDonald House.

I had a great time volunteering at the Ronald McDonald house. All the workers there were so nice and accommodating. Cooking with my fellow coworkers made it a very communicative environment which I appreciate Dawson for.

– Alexandria Fairrow The Team Cuisine Program allows Recruiter volunteers to create a delicious and nutritious meal for the families staying at the Ronald McDonald House (RMHC).

Team Cuisine volunteers do not have to worry about bringing ingredients or worrying about a menu. They just need to show up, ready to cook.

“We like to say that our Team Cuisine program is volunteering, team building, and a cooking class all rolled into one! In our open concept kitchen, the volunteers are able to see the families in the dining room and interact with the families while the volunteers serve the meal they created. With limited full time staff, RMHC relies heavily on volunteers. Without your help, we would not be able to serve as great of meals as we have been. In the past, our meals haven’t been as nutrient rich. Since the creation of Team Cuisine and hiring a full time chef, we are able to provide meals with lots of fruits and veggies, all while teaching volunteers how to create the meal and make it tasty for the families.

Our Team Cuisine program has brought in new faces to the house and some have even signed up to be a reoccurring volunteer, making this a pretty special place to volunteer and to make an impact on the families staying at RMHC.” – Blair Arms – Chef / Food Services Manager
