Rotary Clubs host series of community renewal meetings ALI RAZA araza@insidetoronto,.com The Rotary Clubs in Scarborough hosted a meeting with residents Tuesday night at L’Amoreaux Commuunity Centre to assess goals for community renewal. The meeting is the first of three taking place over the next few weeks. Scarborough’s five rotary clubs combine their efforts to hold these public consultations. At L’Amoreaux, residents examined important issues via round-table discussions. “We’re seeking to identify action to change the conver-

sation on Scarborough,” said Henry Hakomaki, charter member of the Scarborough Twilight Rotary Club. “ As such, we’re hosting a series of townhall meetings to build a network with community groups, businesses and organizations.” The three issues discussed were economic development, urban planning and arts and culture. Among the residents, there was a consensus that transit– a hotly debated topic in Scarborough – was the route to improvement. >>>AREA, page 15
