Po Ling Ng, 84, said she suffers from respiratory issues and is fearful the TTC’s proposed McNicoll bus garage in northwest Scarborough would aggravate her health conditions. The Agincourt senior, along with many others, was brought to Toronto’s Board of Health Monday afternoon for speeches the Mon Sheong Foundation and local politicians hoped would move the $190-million project somewhere else, or delay it for years. The 2nd Highland Creek Scouting Group holds its 32nd annual food drive this Saturday. In the past 10 years, the food drives have collected a total of 79,552 pounds of food for Scarborough Communities for Healthy Living (SCHL). The food is used for SCHL’s
Christmas Hamper Program and to supplement supplies at its food bank. “We collect food from about 3,000 homes in the Centennial community,” said organizing member Ian Cooper. “It’s extremely well received by the community.” Cooper said the drive’s long history has resulted in strong support from residents.
