McNicoll Bus Garage foes vow to continue to fight proposal MIKE ADLER madler@insidetoronto.com Hopes of stopping the Toronto Transit Commission’s McNicoll Bus Garage – what little there is of it – now rest with the province.

Hundreds of people living in the Mon Sheong Foundation and other seniors residences around the McNicoll Avenue and Kennedy Road site have fought the $190-million project.

On May 21, the TTC announced it had completed an Environmental Project Report on the garage, that could store

and service up to 250 buses, and how it would mitigate its environmental effects.

Issuing the report - available for viewing at projects. ttc.ca and at the Agincourt, Bridlewood, and Steeles Toronto Public Library branches - means people had 30 days to register objections with the province if they want the garage stopped.

Toronto Council gave the garage a green light and an assessment by Toronto Public Health department concluded all the environmental effects

Scarborough Film Festival opens next week SAM JURIC sjuric@insidetoronto.com The world is soon to be at the fingertips of Torontonians as the third annual Scarborough Worldwide Film Festival approaches.

Diversity is the unofficial theme of the festival, connecting the people of Scarborough with the life experiences, cultures and people of the world beyond, through film.

Born and raised in Scarborough, 22 year-old budding director, Alicia Harris said, “Scarborough is often seen as an unknown faraway place.”

Harris hopes the festival will attract film fans to come and see what Scarborough has to offer as well as expose people to new and different things.

Audiences will take a whirlwind trip around the globe as the festival will be screening 15 international films from 10 countries, spanning more than five continents.

Included in this cornucopia of international films is Harris’ documentary Fatherhood.

The documentary paints the portrait of a young father and examines the role childhood plays in a man’s ability to parent.

“There is a lot of stuff in the media that portrays teen pregnancy in a negative way and from the female perspective.

This was a story that needed to be told,” Harris said.

Fatherhood has already

been screened at the Canada International Film Festival earlier this year where the film won the Royal Reel Award.

The Scarborough festival will commence by offering free admission to film-goers on the first day at the University of Toronto Scarborough.

mer of the event said, “The free screenings are meant to make the festival more accessible to people to come out and enjoy.”

Harris is protective of her hometown and hopes the festival will show people the great things Scarborough has to offer.

“The film festival provides a chance to give Scarborough some positive attention and put Scarborough on the map,” Petrov said.

The festival will also double as a competition.

In-competition, films will be juried by representatives of the Toronto film scene.

The jury committee will include Arshad Khan, director of Mosaic International South Asian Film Festival; Michael Barry, content development and operations at Cineplex Entertainment; Sara Saljoughi, assistant professor of English and Cinema Studies at the University of Toronto; and Scarborough’s Steven Hoffner, an award winning director.

Audiences will have the opportunity to contribute

their own input on the films being shown by participating in the Audience Choice Awards.

Recipients of the Audience Choice Awards will earn a William F. White $1,000 production certificate and an editing suite system from AVID. The Scarborough Worldwide Film Festival is important because it allows independent film makers an opportunity to show their work, said Harris.

“I like making documentaries because it allows people to connect with real people,” said Harris.

Harr is’ film features Sean Gazmin, a native of Scarborough who tells the story of being a teenage father.

“These are the films that aren’t going to make the most money. It’s not Hollywood, but they are important,” Harris said.

The festival will take place from Tuesday June 2, through to Sunday June 7, at the Cineplex Coliseum, University of Toronto Scarborough and

the Fox Theatre on Queen Street East.

Tickets to the Opening Night Gala and screening are priced at $20. General admission tickets will be sold for $10.

There is a students and seniors rate of $8 for regular screenings and $15 for the Opening Night Gala.

Each year the festival experiments by adding new elements to the event in an effort to create an atmosphere of anticipation and excitement for audiences, said Petrov.

This year the festival will include two surprise outdoor screenings.

The pop-up screenings will be held on June, 5 and June 6.

Locations for the surprise screenings have not been announced.

“If film festivals like this cause even just one person to go and see an international film, then it’s doing its job,” said Harris.

Proposal for 30-storey building at Pharmacy/Sheppard raises concern MIKE ADLER madler@insidetoronto.com Though its rapid-transit line is now in doubt, Sheppard Avenue East in Scarborough is seeing development proposals, though not all of them may be welcome.

Scarborough-Agincourt Councillor Norm Kelly said he’s against a plan for a 30-storey mixed-used build-

ing on the southeast corner of Sheppard and Pharmacy Avenue.

The plan, which is the subject of a community meeting on June 23, is for a building with 365 apartment units on a six-storey podium, with commercial units on the ground floor. The proposal, which requires both Official Plan and zoning amendments, is at 3105 to 3133 Sheppard

East, where Wishing Well Plaza stands. City staff have said they have “significant concerns” and will seek changes.

This week, Kelly said the plan “doesn’t feel right,” and argued a city planning study had suggested placing the highest densities for the area around the intersections at Warden and Victoria Park avenues. “If you’re going to

put up 30-storey buildings, that’s where you put them up.”

The June 23 meeting starts at 7 p.m. at GracePoint Baptist Church.

Kelly was supportive of another plan, approved by Scarborough Community Council in May, which proposes two mid-rise residential towers of 10 and 11 storeys with 329 units, retail on the

ground floor and four blocks of 43 stacked townhouses at the back of the site.

The development would occupy 3402, 3445 and 3459 to 3471 Sheppard, now home to a gas station, a Kia dealership and a two-storey commercial plaza, and include a parkette on Sheppard.

“I think it will be a terrific development,” the councillor said.

Work on the Sheppard East light-rail line, which until recently was scheduled to resume construction in 2017 and open in 2021, has been delayed until sometime after 2021. Stations for the surface rail route were planned at both the Pharmacy and Warden intersections.

Pan Am Torch comes to town G

et ready Toronto, the Pan Am Games Torch Relay is coming to town starting this Saturday.

The flame was lit Monday in Mexico and is now on its way to Toronto. It splashes down with a special arrival ceremony celebration at Harbourfront featuring a float plane, canoe and a ‘mystery’ first torch runner.

For more details on this weekend’s plans for the torch, see our feature story on page 6.

The torch relay goes from May 30 to July 10, and will touch Canadian communities from the Atlantic to the Pacific. More than 130 communities will be visited during the 41-day torch relay, with some 3,000 runners taking part.

For local residents, most of the excitement will begin July 4 in the final days leadour view ing up to the opening ceremonies on July 10 of the Toronto 2015 Pan Games.

by Canadian astronaut Chris Hadfield for a community celebration before heading out across Canada.

During its journey, the torch will visit Richmond, B.C.; Calgary, Alberta, during the Stampede; Winnipeg, Manitoba, where Canada last hosted the Pan Am Games in 1999; and Halifax, Nova Scotia.

It’s in Ontario, though, where the torch relay will have the biggest impact. Virtually every corner of the province will be visited, with community celebrations planned at numerous locations.

As host city, Toronto will have a number of celebrations – with events planned specifically for Scarborough, North York, and Etobicoke in early July.

On June 28, the torch will be in the city for the annual Pride Parade.

Also, a unique event is set for July 4 at the Prince Edward Viaduct (also known as the Bloor Viaduct).

The viaduct will be lit up to create a multicoloured effect on the Luminous Veil, which encases the famous bridge.

Community groups including the Danforth BIA, which has incorporated its annual Thrill of the Grill event into the celebration, will be on the bridge to welcome the torch and the relay runners. Metroland Media Toronto will also be a big part of that celebration as we are hosting games and events for kids on the viaduct.

How to fit into your summer clothes So, can you put on your favourite summer attire yet?

Or is squeezing in going to be a challenge this year?

Not to worry if you can’t and your wardrobe is in the bottom of a drawer or hanging in the closet. You’re not alone.

Besides, you’ve still got a little time. There are three more weeks before the season officially begins. For what’s it’s worth, I’m not quite their yet, either. I’ve got some work to do before I debut my summer apparel.

During other seasons I’m typically not even a casual observer of weight, let alone a serious weight watcher, but even I have to admit that when the weather gets like this and clothes get skimpier, weight is first and foremost on my mind.

A new wrinkle has been added this year, too. For the first time ever it’s not just my weight I’m concerned about in my efforts to slim down. Of equal interest is the weight of the food I’m

jamie wayne BUT SERIOUSLY eating. It all started Friday night when I popped into Yes Frills to do some grocery shopping. Everything I got came by the pound.

I can’t remember so much stuff ever being weighed before. The cashier weighed the tomatoes, the green peppers, the red peppers, the apples, the bananas and so on. Weighing the “and so on” particularly seemed to take forever and after she was done it dawned on me that she weighed everything in my cart except for one item: the pound cake.

The irony was inescapable. But to me only, apparently. When I told her it didn’t feel like a pound to me and asked if she wouldn’t mind weighing it just to be on the safe side, I got frowns from the long line-up of people cooling their heels behind me who

were interested in a little less talk and a lot more action.

The frowns turned into sneers when I suggested that if she just lift it herself, surely she’d agree. When I asked if she’d lift it I didn’t call her Shirley, the sneers turned into scowls. When I begged her to at least tell me how much the pound cake is in grams, the scowls turned into snarls. And finally when she asked me if I wanted any bags and I told her, no, but a forklift would be nice considering all the weight, the snarls turned into growls.

Anyhow, I paid up and bolted out of there before the angry posse that had formed could get me, raced home and decided to settle things once and for all by weighing the pound cake myself.

But first things first, I put the other products to the test, one at a time.

The weight of the green peppers was exactly the same as it was in checkout line. Same goes for the red

peppers. The apples and bananas were bang on, too.

Ditto for the “and so on”.

Then came the piece de resistance. Actually not just a piece. We’re talking the whole pound cake here, sports fans.

Mind you, the pound cake pleaded guilty with an explanation. It turns out, it lost the weight by eating the exact same fruits and veggies I’d just picked up.

What’s more, it guaranteed that if I kept this up, too, I’d be able to fit in my favourite summer clothes right on schedule.

Boy, am I ever embarrassed. Thanks, pound cake.

Scarborough athletes earn honours Centennial College names top male and female athletes of the year

The 24 year old won two Ontario Colleges Athletic Association medals in soccer: silver with the Colts playing the shortened indoor schedule and a bronze in the outdoor game.

“I won the award last year, so I told my girlfriend not to expect anything big,” recalled Tarazhi, studying international business, a three-time sport MVP and former provincial rookie of the year. “Was I ever wrong. I was shocked when my name was called. It’s just a great feeling to be recognized for hard work and all the guys on my team deserve a great deal of credit.”

Gail McNeil, in 1972, was the first female basketball player to win the coveted award followed, six years later, by Judy Buck.

Reid has quite the work ethic to go along with a stunning personality that has made her one of the more popular student athletes at Ontario’s oldest community college. Winning the major award, that went along with a first team all-star selection in the Ontario Colleges Athletic Association and

a bursary from the Engineering Association of Ontario have been huge.

“I know I worked hard, top scorer and rebounder on the team, had a great year, but was overwhelmed – just didn’t expect this award,” said Reid, who lives in the Victoria Park and Finch avenues area of the city and was a four-time Most Valuable Player in basketball when she attended St. Joseph of Morrow Park High School.

Growing up in what she called an underprivileged area, her mother sent her to an all-girls’ high school. After graduating, she took four years off to work.

A friend suggested working at Porter Air and when an opportunity came up, she grabbed it.

“An office job is not my thing, I wanted something different – to be challenged and pushed,” she said. “I can remember cleaning planes, working in a lounge and then came a break to work in a hangar, study and learn about fixing planes. That was what I wanted to do and my big dream is to be a director of maintenance for an airline.”

Centennial’s top male athlete award went to soccer player Mark Tarazhi, who was born in Albania, but grew up in Detroit and also played, after high school, in the

Basketball player Samantha Reid is Centennial College’s 2015 Female Athlete of the Year.

Samantha Reid is flying high in more ways than one.

The 24-year-old Centennial College is an academic scholar, finishing off studies as an aviation technician and mastering her maintenance knowledge in the electrical and mechanical sides of airplanes, but also a talented basketball player.

A two-time Most Valuable Player with the Scarboroughbased college basketball team, Reid has now become just the third player in her sport, in almost five decades since Centennial opened, to be singled out for the prestigious Female Athlete of the Year award.

Work ethic

A number of other Scarborough athletes also claimed big awards including four from York University.

Brittany Crew hopes she improved her chances of competing for Canada at the Pan Am Games after her selection as York’s Female Athlete of the Year at York.

An all-star, the former Eastern Michigan University student set Canadian and Ontario university records in shot put and weight throw and won gold medals.

“I actually thought I had

accomplished enough to be a strong candidate for the (York) award,” said Crew, whose success may have started at Birchmount Park Collegiate.

“When others, nominated for the award, came up to me and suggested I prepare a speech, I figured this just might be my night.”

Hockey player Lisa Stathopoulos, a graduate of Sir John A. Macdonald Collegiate and after returning from a concussion, won York’s award given to a student athlete who best exemplifies the qualities of perseverance, sportsmanship and consideration for others. She was also the OUA hockey Player of the Year.

Volleyball player Josh Henderson, an R.H. King grad, was picked as Male Rookie of the Year while former Woburn Collegiate student Alexandria Town was female rookie of the year and the first York wrestler to win a provincial medal in wrestling.

Andrew D’Agostini, chosen Rookie of the Year at the University of Guelph, played five seasons with the OHL Peterborough Petes.

A goalie, selected a Canadian university all-star and an easy choice for the OUA all-rookie team, he was a huge factor in Guelph winning its first OUA title

in almost two decades.

Former Scarborough Blues basketball player Lee Anna Osei, who starred on the Wilfrid Laurier University squad this year and picked as winner of the Outstanding Woman at Laurier award, was also the recipient of the top female academic award by an athlete.

“It was a fabulous year for me, my final as a varsity athlete, and it is quite the honor to be recognized – truly something special that I will cherish the rest of my life,” said Osei.

Rugby player Jacob Rumball, who has competed for Canada’s under-20 squad, won the top male athlete award at Queen’s University while a pair of basketball players also hit the podium for excellence.

Tyrone Dickson was top athlete at Humber College helping his team to a Canadian championship and Fleming College’s Daniel Gordon, despite his Peterborough team finishing with a 1-19 record was the MVP in basketball after a remarkable season as top scorer, averaging 29.7 points a game, in the Ontario Colleges Athletic Association.

Games’ torch arrives in Toronto Saturday for the start of the 41-day Torch Relay.

A float plane carrying a lit flame inside a lantern will touch down in Lake Ontario near Toronto’s waterfront, where it will be handed to an Elder of the Mississaugas of the New Credit First Nation, who will then travel by canoe for a ceremony by Chief Bryan LaForme at Harbourfront Centre.

The flame for the torch was lit Monday, May 25 during a ceremony at the Pyramid of the Sun in Teotihuacan, Mexico.

The torch will then be passed to several bearers before Col. Chris Hadfield will run with it into The Distillery District.

Celebrations are scheduled to end around 6:30 p.m.

he Toronto 2015 Pan Am Games will be off to a splashing start when the torch touches down in the city Saturday for the start of the 41-day Torch Relay.

Many events are being planned around the Torch Relay, including The Thrill of the Grill Saturday, July 4 on the Prince Edward Viaduct.

The Danforth BIA will host the sixth annual event fundraiser from 6:30 to 10:30 p.m. at the east end of the viaduct, where the Luminous Veil – the suicide barrier rods – will be lit for the first time.

“We usually hold this event at Broadview and Chester, but because the bridge will be lit, we moved it to there,” said Jennifer Jones, vice-chair of the BIA, adding the top half of the bridge will remain permanently lit.

The Thrill of the Grill, co-hosted by The Food Ne t w o r k’s c h e f Ly n n Crawford and Tommy Smyth of HGTV’s Sarah 101, will feature a handful of chefs serving up edibles including ribs, corn, and beer.

“I hope this is the start of many events on the bridge,” said Jones, adding the BIA was instrumental with the initial funding and advocating for the Luminous Veil and lighting.

As for being part of Pan Am Games celebrations, she said residents might be slow to warm to the sporting event, but once it arrives it will be fully embraced.

“Any city that is hosting an event like this has a chance to really turn the dial on the city up a notch,” Jones said.

Cheryl Yamamoto’s office is not a typical elementary school principal’s office: there are toys, a fish tank and a large table.

The table is where a group of students have breakfast before class each day while socializing with the principal.

The breakfast program is open to all 340 students at Scarborough’s Walter Perry Junior Public School though typically about 10 take part.

“The kids who are coming for breakfast are obviously the ones who have a little

more needs, so I’ll check in with them,” said Yamamoto, noting the breakfast allows her to “listen to their needs and their problems if they have any.”

Yamamoto, with the help of parent volunteers, also organizes a morning meal program, which offers students a healthy snack from three food groups at 10 a.m. each day.

Yamamoto was recently selected as a Toronto 2015 Pan Am Games torchbearer in recognition of her “commitment to inspiring healthy food choices and to ensuring

students in her community start the day with proper nourishment.”

More and more schools are offering some type of snack program; and Yamamoto believes it’s the way of the future.

“I think every child deserves to have an actual healthy snack every single day,” she said, adding “this is something that needs to happen in every school.”

At the breakfast program, which begins at 8:30 a.m., students are offered a variety of foods: cereal, fruits, waffles and grilled cheese sand-

wiches. During the morning meal students are typically offered fruits and vegetables along with cheese, crackers and bagels. Some students like the atmosphere so much that they choose to eat their lunch in the principal’s office as well. “I really try hard to make this a safe haven for the kids, hence the fish and the toys,” Yamamoto said.

Body found in McCowan Park identified as missing man

Toronto Police believe Nitiyand Gar y Singh exchanged phone texts with a friend until 1 a.m., Friday, May 22, not long before he was killed in McCowan Park.

The body of Singh, now confirmed as Toronto’s 19th homicide victim of the year, was found Monday morning in a “heavily wooded area” of the park, which is near

Torrance Road.

Last Saturday his family reported to police Singh had been missing since Thursday.

Unemployed, he hung around a strip mall at 1347 Danforth Rd., a short distance southwest of where he was found, Homicide Det. Sgt. Mike Carbone said during a press conference on Wednesday.

Known in the area as Gary, Singh was the father of one child, and “has roots and is connected to that neighbourhood,” Carbone said.

Police are particularly interested in speaking to anyone who saw Singh around 1 a.m. on May 22.

Carbone would not confirm Singh was stabbed to death, but said an edged weapon was used.

transit tune with music winfestivals A Toronto city councillor wants the TTC to do a better job of providing transportation to major music festivals.

In a letter to the TTC board, Mike Layton notes major music events such as the Field Trip and the Toronto Jazz Festival, generate hundreds of millions of dollars to the country and local economy. But when a concert venue is located away from major transit, it’s a logistical “nightmare” for those without access to a car. And even those with a car have to deal with limited parking spots and traffic jams.

The TTC board will consider Layton’s request at its monthly meeting scheduled for May 27.

Both the TTC and GO Transit celebrated milestones recently for separate landmark events that happened to take place on the same date.

As columnist and historian Mike Filey describes in a recent article for the Toronto Sun, this past Saturday, May 23 marked the launch of GO’s operations back in 1967 in an effort deal with “worsening traffic congestion” on

highways east and west of the city (sound familiar?).

Seventy years before that, Toronto the Good finally allowed the running of streetcar service for the first time ever – on a Sunday.

As Filey writes, on that first day of operation the privately run precursor to the TTC donated the day’s revenue, $321, to local hospitals.

Mayor John Tory announced the subway will open at 6 a.m. on that day all throughout the Pan Am/Parapan Am Games.

For those hoping for a permanent shift to an earlier opening time on Sunday, TTC CEO Andy Byford said TTC staff is looking into the matter.

Beyond costs, he said TTC workers use the three extra hours of downtime on Sundays before the subway opens at 9 a.m. for needed maintenance work.

City hall keeps symbolism alive

S

ymbolism counts for a lot in Toronto politics: certainly for more than it should.

The Gardiner Expressway, which is really just a strip of elevated concrete and asphalt used by a few of Toronto’s many commuters, is also a symbolic battleground for suburban motorists and downtown pedestrians. Next month at council, that potent symbolism will go up against measly facts and mere expert opinion and more than likely end in council spending an extra $500 million to build new elevated ramps from the Gardiner to the Don Valley Parkway.

Such is how it goes when councillors play to their home crowd: from a cynically political perspective, everyone on council will be a winner no matter the outcome.

Of course, not all political symbolism at city hall is a slam dunk. Some of these debates can be treacherous ones indeed — and some of them are very small.

david nickle the city On Tuesday, Mayor John Tory’s generally right-ofcentre executive committee spent a good portion of a short meeting dancing around a symbolic leghold trap set by generally left-of-centre councillors Mike Layton and Glenn De Baeremaeker. The two had put forward a member’s motion to have council establish an “environmental bill of rights.”

The motion contains many “rights” that very few voters would want to pass up: a right to breathe and drink clean air and water and eat safe food; access to nature, to know about pollutants and the right to take part in decision-making. It also lays responsibility on council to promote these rights, and by the by, points to matters of policy that also have great symbolic value for political brands.

But they weren’t about to

vote it down — because oh, the symbolism of that would have been an embarrassment. Other municipalities had passed a similar bill of rights already.

So the committee did the sensible thing, and sent it off to the interim city manager for a report to come back late in the fall. Layton was disappointed at that prospect and, laying cards on the table, expressed hope it could come before the federal election.

Because after all, it would be really something if Canada’s largest city could make it clear that its policies and practices were all aimed toward preserving the environment, just as Torontonians were set to join their fellow Canadians passing judgement on the environmentally dodgy Conservative government record. Now that would be what you would call symbolic.

Safety program seeks support of dog walkers That strange man looking into basement windows may be a contractor, or a burglar.

To r o n t o p o l i c e s a y Scarborough residents out walking their dogs could, with a little training, report on what looks suspicious in their neighbourhoods and prevent crimes.

The program Paws for the Cause enlists dog-walkers simply because they are there, and would recognize suspicious activity if they saw it.

During a rash of recent daylight break-ins in Agincourt, residents didn’t seem to notice

out-of-place people or things, said Const. Gary Gomez. a crime prevention officer for the area’s 42 Division.

“And if they did notice, they weren’t calling us,” Gomez said this week.

“The criminals were going under the radar.”

Gomez wants to meet interested people from the area on Thursday, June 4, at L’Amoreaux Community Centre on McNicoll Avenue, from 8 to 9 p.m.

Around 50 residents got basic crime-prevention training from the program

in April in the area served by 43 Division.

The program doesn’t ask people to do anything they wouldn’t normally do on their walks, and isn’t restricted to dog walkers. Gomez said new moms who regularly walk their babies are also good candidates to report suspicions by calling 416-808-2222 - or 911 if they see a crime in progress.

People are afraid of trouble if they report something to police and they’re wrong, but it’s okay to be wrong, Gomez said.

Statistics from the Alzheimer Society of Canada show that in 2011, 747,000 Canadians were living with Alzheimer’s and other dementias – that’s 14.9 per cent of Canadians 65 and older. Between two per cent and 10 per cent of all cases of

dementia start before the age of 65. The risk for dementia doubles every five years after age 65. This is where education and resources for cargivers step in, said Hurst.

“There’s a lot more education and supports available to people. A lot more support where people are trying to educate family members on trying to be caregivers.”

The Caregiver Show, which takes place May 30 at

Centennial College’s Progress Campus in Scarborough, is one way to raise awareness of how many family members are involved in caring for loved ones in need.

The show is presented by Saint Elizabeth Health Care, which offers at-home services for family caregivers. The show is brought to Toronto residents by Metroland Media Toronto and Downsizing Divas.

Speakers at this year’s show include Teepa Snow, an occupational therapist currently working as a dementia care and dementia education specialist, and health and wellness expert Rose Reisman.

Bringing the caregiving role into the spotlight recognizes how important these individuals are, Hurst said.

As the Alzheimer Society of Canada notes, caregiving is a critical issue for people

living with dementia and for Canadians in general. One in five Canadians aged 45 and older provides some form of care to seniors living with long-term health problems.

Along with the guest speakers, The Caregiver Show will feature resources, services and products along with a chance for caregivers to connect with other caregivers and with professionals in the industry.

There will also be a Rest and Relaxation Zone to provide pampering and replenishment – a chance for caregivers to take care of themselves.

The Caregiver Show takes place from 10 a.m. to 5 p.m. at Centennial College Progress Campus’ Athletics Wellness Centre, 941 Progress Ave.

Scarborough Civic Centre library opens TECHNOLOGY AND BOOKS: Scarborough Civic Centre branch library held a community open house Saturday.

The library is home to an innovation hub, which includes: 3D printers and scanners, Raspberry Pi (singleboard computers), Arduino kits, high definition video cameras and a green screen. Programming connected to the space and its technology include: free classes from 3D design to computer programming and events with experts and innovation specialists. There is also a reading area for children. The Kidsstop space offers literary centres for children aged birth to five years old and their caregivers.
