Our Misson

Saheli Women is a social enterprise that aims to financially empower marginalised and rural women living in India. We achieve this through our skills development programs and the creation of sustainable and meaningful livelihood opportunities.

We also act as a bridge that connects rural artisans with international fashion labels, collaborating to produce ethical and sustainable garments and artisanal textiles.

Sustainable fashion production organically became our chosen vehicle for change. For us, this work is not just about creating garments; it enables us to continuing sharing our rich cultural heritage and beautiful artisanal crafts with dignity and purpose, all while cultivating harmony and humility throughout.

We are committed to prioritising sustainability throughout the production phase of our garments, through to their consumption, and our partnerships with conscious and sustainable fashion brands have played a pivotal role in the realisation of this.

The short supply chain we work within is built on the principles of fairness, nonexploitation and transparency. This ensures a deep level of respect and reciprocity between all of our stakeholders.

As an ethical fashion social enterprise working in women’s empowerment and community development, we are a unique organisation, having integrated the United Nations Sustainable Development Goals since the foundation of our organisation. We are committed to fulfilling the United Nations Sustainable Development Goals 1, 4, 5 & 17, and are proud to be a part of the Conscious Fashion and Lifestyle Network, which our founder Madhu Vaishnav joined as an Advisory Committee Member in 2022.
