Employee Medical Clinic Reminder

As we get into flu season, we just wanted to remind all employees of the free use of our medical clinic located in Building G2. Whether you are on our county insurance-or not-you can stop by there and get checked out by MedNow employees Monday through Thursday from 9am-2pm. They do stop taking patients at 1:30pm, so arrive before then.

Treatments: Colds

Cough/congestion

Blood glucose checks

Flu/strep screening

Ear aches

Blood pressure checks

Minor laceration repair

Prescription refills

No medications housed on-site

Cost to employees: None

Confidentiality:

Medical providers will be the only individuals dealing with health information and will maintain employee confidentiality

Spouses of employees covered on our county health insurance plan (United Healthcare) can be seen at the clinic as well. However, children of covered employees cannot be taken to the onsite employee clinic. Since that same facility houses our fitness center, there is too much liability for children to be in that location. Children can be taken to any normal MedNow location to be seen.

The clinic is located in Building G2 (the red brick building right past Zaxby’s on Ronald Reagan Drive). The clinic rooms are located inside G2 on the back hallway to the far right past the workout rooms. Employees will need to show their employee ID card to the MedNow staff for identification purposes.

We are including a flyer showing the normal MedNow locations that employees on our healthcare plan can visit. Note that the West Augusta location is open until 10pm seven days a week. The closing hours of the other locations vary.

Call HR if you have any questions!

REFERRAL HONOREE

In 2022, we began our new employee referral incentive where current employees could earn a day of PTO for referring a new hire. Once the new hire completes one year of service, our current employees are credited with the PTO.

Congratulations to the following employees who earned a day of PTO for referring a successful new hire as of : 12/18/24

Water and Ice

The months of February through April are often the wettest months. In the south temperatures can vary from warm and mild, to freezing cold during these months We see heavy rainfall, freezing rain, ice, flooding conditions, erosion, and other hazards which can impact our workplace We need to consider how wet weather affects our employee’s safety Although it might sound like a dull topic, wet surfaces can cause hazards for all employees and for our visitors Wet floors can contribute to workplace safety accidents such as slips, trips, and falls. Unidentified leaks can lead to damaged buildings, increased chance of mold and mildew, and in worst cases flooding in our facilities leading to damaged equipment and infrastructure Wet weather can also impact how we use our heavy equipment Lack of traction, nonsolid surface for stabilizers, and even loss of equipment in once dry now boggy terrain

The combination of rainwater and cold air can also create snow, ice, and slippery surfaces

Some considerations: Moving cautiously, particularly on ladders or at heights. using the correct equipment and tools that can be used in the rain with non-slip handles, proper personal protective equipment (PPE) including proper footwear and trousers that don’t drag on the floor,, suitable hand protection with grip, wearing high-visibility clothing to make sure all workers can be seen by each other, and refresher training on hyperthermia signs and prevention

On a similar note, rainwater and cold weather can cause icy roads. OSHA has an acronym, PPP, (prepare, protect, prevent) PPP is an ideal safety slogan for any inclement weather, winter driving, and safely doing our job during a weather event Bottom
