INTHISISSUE... Welcome to the May 2024 edition of Splash.

Colleagues stunned at the Mayor’s Ball

Don’t miss your chance to take on It’s A Knock Out!

It’s been another incredibly busy few months in the charity team – a fabulous mixture of fundraising, networking, liaising with businesses to seek sponsorship and donations, event planning, coordinating our Tiny Toes appeal, visiting schools and donors in the community and much more!

We have an exciting update for you about our Tiny Toes appeal. Read on for more information.

We have been busy planning our next Business Breakfast Event, we helped to organise the Mayor of Rotherham’s Grand Charity Ball at Wentworth, a daring bunch of skydivers should have taken to the skies at Skydive Hibaldstow last weekend (delayed due to the weather) and we’ve been busy recruiting Total Warriors, It’s a Knockout participants, golf teams, Polar Plungers and much more.

The charity team is growing too. We recently recruited Gina Mitchell, who is our Supporter Care and Administration Assistant, and Becky will be joining us in the coming weeks as our Charity Marketing and Communications Officer. Although both roles are currently part time, they will help us to realise our ambitions and to do much more of everything we love! Please pop into the Charity Hub and say hello.

So grab a brew and check out our latest news – enjoy!

Glamourous Rotherham

Mayor’s Ball at Wentworth Woodhouse

More than 140 people wore their finest glad rags to attend to the Mayor of Rotherham’s Grand Ball at the gorgeous Wentworth Woodhouse earlier this month.

The event was planned to raise funds for all three of the Mayor’s chosen charities, and a celebration of his time in post.

Amongst the crowd of finely dressed guests were our own colleagues from Family Health.

Kathy Parke, Claire Ellis, Racheal Gibson, Isobel Thomas, Felicity Clarry, Jo Cadman, Tracy Findlay and Alison Cowie (pictured) were invited to attend by the Trust to thank them for all their hard work and disruption they have faced whilst supporting the Tiny Toes appeal.

The charity team attended the glitzy event too to host a (very busy) raffle, silent and live auctions and to “work the room” ensuring we took advantage of the opportunity to make new contacts with some high profile businesses in the community and secure new support.

ny oes ppeal

In just eight months we have raised over £100k, which is two thirds of our £150,000 target! We are thrilled to bits with the support we have had from the local community and Trust colleagues – we’re confident that the target will be achieved by the end of August when the appeal will close.

The achievement is a testament to the incredible support we have received from you, our fundraisers, our major corporate donors and the wider community.

We want to extend a heartfelt thank you to everyone who has contributed to the Tiny Toes appeal so far. The generosity and enthusiasm is truly inspiring and every donation, whether big or small, has helped to boost the appeal.

You will have seen the incubator opposite Boots on C level. So far we have received donations in the incubator totalling £2,270 which is incredible!

Big value donations have included:

£25,000

£1
£4000 £2000 £2000
from Matchroom Sport Charitable Foundation from W. Wright’s Electrical from The Water Wipes Foundation from ESH Construction from from from NatWest Harworth’s Roundwood Golf Club
£7,500 £5000
£1,500

100,000 raised!

Money raised has already helped to fund:

Artwork to help create a homely, less clinical space, the refurbishment of one of the unit’s three family rooms, including furniture and soft furnishings (thanks to the team at W. Wrights!), colourful cot boards and bedside lockers to personalise each baby’s cot space, double beds for all three family rooms, 14 reclining chairs next to each incubator so parents can be comfortable for long period of time, and much more!

Howcanyou continueto help?

Thanks to some amazing local companies, we’ve also had resources donated to enhance staff and patient areas. They have included four TVs from Crampton and Moore, a microwave from Stearn Electrical, £200 worth of soft furnishings from Dunelm Rotherham, dining tables and chairs for two rooms in the unit from Fosters and the planned refurbishment of one of the kitchen areas.

Combined gifts like these have save thousands of pounds and make the money raised for the appeal go even further, which will ultimately save the Trust money, which can be spent elsewhere.

While we celebrate this amazing milestone, our fundraising is far from over! We still have £50,000 left to reach our target and every pound counts. We will be working just as hard over the coming weeks and months to ensure we reach the £150,000 goal!

Thankyou!

How can you continue to help?

We have a fundraising campaign that nurseries, families, friendship groups and schools can take part in; our Tiny Toes Toddle! This is a sponsored walk aimed at youngsters aged under five, although children of all ages and abilities can take part. It’s a fantastic way for children to raise money to support other children at such a crucial time in their lives. Further details can be found on our website.

We already have 11 venues signed up for this fundraiser! Do you know any groups, clubs or schools that you think would love to take part? Let them know!

Our Tiny Toes Toddles will run through June and July.

Toddle not your thing? Don’t worry, there’s lots of ways you can support us:

Introduce us to your work contacts so we can invite them to our business breakfast events or discuss sponsorship opportunities with them.

Fundraise for us! We have a bumper events calendar planned for the year ahead, which includes Total Warrior in June, Wear It Blue Day and It’s a Knockout in July, another skydive and a Charity Golf Day in September, the Rotherham Polar Plunge in October, Christmas Wreath Making and the Christmas Fair in November. Share our message: give our social media accounts a follow, and share our posts. It’s free for you to do, and really helps us out!

Could you jump through flames, wade through mud and jump head first into an ice bath to raise money for the charity?

If the answer is yes, then we have the perfect opportunity for you to do something fun, challenging and heroic!

We have two final places available for Total Warrior at a hugely discounted price of £25 instead of £77.95! The iconic 12km obstacle course will take place at Bramham Park in Leeds on Saturday 22 June 2024. Our team’s ‘wave’ or start time will be 1pm.

Our team is almost full, so be quick if you’d like to join our existing Warriors!

We’d like you to raise a minimum of £100 sponsorship. Get in touch with the charity team to claim your discount and get signed up.
