Hello!

It’s a joy to introduce myself as the new Director of The Roses and to welcome you to a season filled with creativity, laughter and the kind of shared experiences that make theatre so special. At the heart of our programme is the Jack and the Beanstalk pantomime—our only self-produced professional show of the year. Created entirely in-house, this pantomime brings back the same brilliant creative team (including the writer of last year’s Cinderella) and some of your favourite returning cast— including our phenomenal Dame. We’re especially excited to introduce Jack, whose tumbling skills will bring extra energy and action to the stage. Add in a few production surprises we’re keeping under wraps for now, and you’re in for a panto that’s even more magical than ever before. Our comedy season launches with the already sold-out Georgie Carroll, followed by the brilliantly bold Scummy Mummies with their brand-new show, and two of the UK’s finest satirical voices: Mark Steel and Andy Parsons. If you’re looking for reasons to laugh this autumn, we’ve got plenty.

And as the festive season approaches, we’ll be setting the tone with music that warms the soul—from the vintage charm of Swing from Paris, to the rousing spirit of Tewkesbury Town Band and the seasonal sparkle of Buddy Holly & The Cricketers: Holly at Christmas

Whether you’ve been coming to The Roses for years or are stepping through our doors for the first time, we’re so glad you’re here. I hope you find something in these pages that makes you smile, brings you together or inspires a new Christmas tradition.

Friends Membership Just Got Even Better!

Friend member discounts are shown below ticket prices

True friendship is about showing up and being there through thick and thin. That’s exactly what our Friends do for The Roses.

Without the loyal support of our donors, Friends and Patrons, The Roses simply wouldn’t exist today. They are the reason our lights are on, our stage is alive and our community has a place to come together.

Unlike many theatres, we don’t receive any local government or arts council funding. This means every ticket sold, every coffee bought and every Friend signed up helps keep our doors open. And with rising costs, an ageing building to maintain and artists to support, it’s more challenging than ever.

That’s why we need Friends like you.

Becoming a Friend of The Roses isn’t just about supporting your local theatre; it’s about ensuring we continue to be a vibrant hub for entertainment, connection and creativity for years to come. And because Friends are so important to us, we’ve made our membership even better!

After all, what are Friends for?

Get ready to climb to new heights this festive season!

Get ready to climb to new heights this festive season as The Roses Theatre proudly presents Jack and the Beanstalk!

In the rural haven of Tewkesbury, a giant problem has turned the quiet town upside down —quite literally. The weather’s gone bonkers: potatoes are falling from the sky, it won’t stop raining and the community noticeboard has floated off down the river three times this week. Meanwhile, Coweswold Dairy’s prize cow has started behaving strangely. But local mischiefmaker Jack Trott isn’t fazed—he’s determined to outwit the fearsome giant and save the day (with a little help and a lot of luck).

Reluctantly tagging along is his not-so-brave brother “Silly” Simon, while Jill—the mayor’s daughter and a passionate eco-warrior—proves she’s got more than a few tricks up her sleeve. Add a trainee fairy florist, a suspiciously shady politician called Fleshcreep and Dame Dotty Trott guarding the town’s last remaining dairy— and you’ve got a giant mystery on your hands. Can our heroes climb the beanstalk, crack the case, and restore peace to Tewkesbury before

the cows stop producing milk? There’s only one way to find out…

With dazzling costumes, toe-tapping tunes, spectacular silliness and a story full of heart, this year’s panto promises a treat for all ages.

Expect the return of much-loved cast members from Cinderella: The Pantomime (yes, last year’s Dame is back and bringing the laughs) and the same brilliant creative team who brought the 2024 production to life—back with even more sparkle and silliness.

Don’t miss the most magical—and marvellously mad—event of the year. Book now and let the hilarity begin!

All proceeds from Jack and the Beanstalk are reinvested into The Roses Trust, supporting creative opportunities, community programmes and the future of theatre in Tewkesbury.
