INTRODUCTION

I

dentity, its one of those things that makes us unique. It’s a mark of your existence in this world. With my final collection I wanted to do just that, which is to translate and express myself in my work. Translate the factors, which make me who I am today, culture, my love for art and my adoration for Fashion. The overall mood of this collection is a harmony of Indian Mughal influences such as mandalas and intricate jewelry, along with the 50s themed silhouette and shape influences. The overall shape distribution is very organic and standout, consisting of varied garment pieces such as capes, oversized coats, skirts, tops and dresses. Experimentation and artistic expression is key with this collection where unique elements are added in terms of personally dying the fabrics, design and construction of mandala embroidery, design and construction of embellishment pieces, experimenting with exaggerated collars, sleeves and silhouette shapes, along with a varied used of fabric and textures. The target market for this collection is focused on a modern empowered woman, strong and confident to carry the statement pieces. She is an individual who base’s her choice on ‘buy less, and choose well’. With an eye for unique pieces and appreciation for artistic expression and ethical workmanship. An independent woman of today with a varied knowledge in art, culture and ethical and environmental know how .a woman who embraces class and sophistication, choosing style over trend.
