90. French Mechanical Toy “Spanish Dancer with Tambourine” by Vichy 12" (30 cm.) Standing upon a green tin platform base with three spoked wheels is a bisque-headed doll with brown glass enamel eyes, richly painted dark lashes and brows, closed mouth, black mohair wig, carton torso and legs, wire upper arms, bisque forearms, wearing original gold silk satin dress with magenta and black lace trim, and carrying a red silk twill-edged tambourine with brass bells. When wound, the wheeled platform moves forward, then twirls, then repeats, while the girl turns her head from side to side and waves the tambourine. Condition: generally excellent. Marks: G. Vichy Paris (on mechanism). Comments: Gustav Vichy, circa 1875. Value Points: all original early toy with wonderful vibrant costume and charming activity. $3000/4000

91. Two Mid-1800s French Luxury Candy Boxes 4" (10 cm.) diam. The round candy container boxes include gilt-edged box with lithographed scene of mountain and lake, and a box with a glass-topped lid having die-cut edging and with unusual scene of woman sighting a moon scene through a telescope. Excellent condition. French, mid-1800s. $300/500

92. Charming French Musical Automaton “Peasant and His Piglet” by Roullet et Decamps 21" (53 cm.) Standing upon a velvet-covered base is a bisque-headed boy with amber brown glass paperweight inset eyes, dark eyeliner, lushly-painted long lashes, brushstroked feathered brows, accented nostrils, closed mouth with shaded and outlined lips, pierced ears, brunette mohair wig over cork pate, carton torso and legs, wire upper arms, composition lower arms. When wound, the little boy turns his head side to side, and then nods, as he extends his right arm, holding a baby bottle, toward his baby pig which is being held in his left arm; periodically the baby pig flaps his ears up and down in delight, and music plays. Condition: generally excellent. Marks: Depose Tete Jumeau. Comments: Roullet et Decamps, circa 1890, the model appeared in the firm’s early catalog as number 295, titled “Paysan et son Couchon” (peasant and his piglet). Value Points: the delightful automaton has original silk costume and accessories, especially beautiful face with splendid eyes, music and motion function well. $6500/8500
