231. Neapolitan Village Woman with Unusually Shaped Snood 14" (36 cm.) Polychromed terra cotta shoulderhead of woman with side-tilted head, sculpted white snood forming a cap over crown of head with brown sculpted curls tumbling out the front, enamel eyes, strong nose and chin, open mouth with defined tongue and teeth, tow-wrapped posable armature body, carved wooden lower arms and legs, painted blue stockings and yellow clog, wearing folklore costume including coiffe. Excellent condition, costume has some wear. Neapolitan, mid-1700s, most unusual expression and rare coiffe. $1100/1300

232. Neapolitan Village Baker with Tray of Breads 13" (33 cm.) Polychromed terra cotta shoulderhead of young man, sculpted brown short windblown hair, heavily-lidded enamel eyes, closed mouth, ruddy complexion, tow-wrapped posable armature body, painted blue stockings, and brown shoes with red buckles, wearing village costume and carrying a woven basket laden with terra cotta breads. Excellent condition. Neapolitan, mid-1700s, especially fine sculpting of hair and expressive eyes. $800/1000
