THERESA & JAY

Thank you for taking the time to get to know our family! It takes a village, and our life is the embodiment of this.

We want to adopt for so many reasons. We love being parents and we love our family. After our second son Elijah was born, we were told that another pregnancy would be high risk for Theresa and the baby. We took that as a sign from God that adoption would be the best path for growing our family.

Our situation is a little different. We are blessed to be surrounded by a huge support system. In 2017, we moved onto the street where Theresa grew up, a few houses down from where her parents still live. Two years later, Theresa’s sister Paula and her husband Chris bought the house right next to us. Our two boys, Jonah (8 years old) and Elijah (6 years old) and their cousins Levi (5 years old), John (4 years old), Andrea (2 years old), and Zach (11 months old) love being next door neighbors. They go into our (now combined) backyard and play together almost every day.

Theresa has two other sisters. Laura who lives nearby in the Metro-Detroit area and Diane, who lives with us. They are both a huge part of our lives and love spending time with their niece and nephews.

Paula and Chris have a black lab Hailee, who has decided that she likes our house more than theirs so she stays with us. She is the sweetest dog and is great with kids.

Our goal is to share our love, lives and family. We would love to help you navigate through your decision any way we can and make you as confident and comfortable with whatever you choose.

OUR HISTORY

Theresa & Jay met in 2004. In their senior year of high school. They didn’t attend the same high school, they met through a mutual friend. They have been together ever since.

In 2012, Theresa and Jay were married.

In 2014, their first son Jonah was born.

theresa ABOUT THERESA

Theresa was born and raised in the Metro-Detroit area. She is the third out of four sisters. She was surrounded by lots of neighborhood kids growing up and loved spending time playing outside and riding her bike. Theresa was raised Catholic and attended church every Sunday with her family.

During high school, Theresa played tennis, hung out with friends, and was a member of her church youth group.

After high school, Theresa trained at Providence Hospital School of Radiology specializing in Mammography. She currently works in the field as a Mammography Technician and is able to keep a flexible schedule.

ABOUT JAY

jay

Jay was born and raised in the Metro-Detroit area. Growing up, he loved to play outside, riding his bike, catching frogs and building forts. He spent summers playing with his two brothers and neighborhood friends.

Jay has always had an eye for art. At a young age, he enjoyed making comic books and drawing anything and everything.

This love for art followed him into adulthood. After high school, Jay studied Advertising and Design at the College for Creative Studies. He graduated with his BFA in 2011 and has worked in his field ever since.

AUNT DIANE

diane

Diane, (Theresa’s sister) lives with Theresa and Jay. She is very supportive when it comes to her niece and nephews and loves to spend time with them.

When Jonah was little and just starting to talk, he had trouble pronouncing “Diane” so called her “Aunt Dadee” the nickname has stuck ever since.

She encourages the kids to learn and grow with fun educational activities. Often taking them to The Henry Ford Museum, Greenfield Village, or to the library for a new book.

Diane works as a Project Manager. She has an active social life and loves to plan outings and trips. She is very active and plays ice hockey with her three sisters, and also plays indoor and outdoor soccer with friends.

Jay’s career path has led him to work at one of the top rated, private, pre-k - grade 12 schools in Michigan.

As a result, Jay and Theresa’s children attend as full time students, and have the benefit of driving to and from school each day with Dad.

Their school is culturally diverse and is nationally recognized for academics, athletics and arts.

The main reason we purchased our home was for the... you guessed it. Our house is a 3,000 SF multi-level home in Metro-Detroit. We live on a dead-end street a few houses down from Theresa’s parents house and directly next door to Theresa’s sister Paula and her husband Chris. We each have about a 1/2 acre. When they bought the house next to us, the first thing we did was take out the fence. Jonah and Elijah love playing with their cousins and see them almost every day.

Theresa is very close with her family. Literally and figuratively. Needless to say family dinners are a regular occurrence with this group. Both of Theresa’s parents are retired and love spending time with their grandkids.

Jay has two brothers, Ryan and Randy. Jay’s parents were married almost 30 years until 2014, when sadly his father passed away from cancer. All of his family lives in nearby Metro-Detroit. Jay’s mom is was an early education teacher for many years and is now retired. She loves spending time with Jonah and Elijah, playing and teaching with fun and games.

OUR FAITH

We are Catholic and faith in God is an important part of our lives. We feel that belief in something greater than ourselves is the foundation for our values. Our faith helps guide us with kindness, compassion and love every day.

FAMILY TRIPS

We love to go on family vacations especially to Florida. We swim in the pool and in the ocean, go fishing, and relax in the sun.

FUN WITH FRIENDS

We also take a trip to Jellystone Park every summer with a close group of friends. All of the kids have a great time and love playing with each other.

Hailee is an 8 year old black lab. She “technically” belongs to Paula and Chris, but lives with us. She loves people and is great with kids and babies. She loves going on walks and getting her back scratched and belly rubbed.
