KAYABE aims for SOARING OWLs, SINLAG pushes for ViDang – ViDa Ka! by Mary Randzhel Santiago The School of Education (SEd) for this year’s election campaign carry out new brands of leadership led by Bhea Andrea Eneria of KAYABE and Francis Jason Miranda of SINLAG, vying to be the chairperson of the department’s College Student Council. The two parties presented their platforms in a narrative submitted to The Reflection, which is in-charge of the department’s Eduk Elections coverage. These platforms will formally be presented to the teacher education students during the ‘Pagkilala sa mga Kandidato 2020’ which will be held on February 27. The Kanlungan at Yaman ng Bawat Estudyante (KAYABE) party proposes their summarized team’s agenda, which is the ‘SOARING OWLs’, an acronym which stands forfor Student Involvement, Outreach Programs, Academic Excellence, Regenerate Funds, Information Dissemination, Nurture Individual Growth, Go for Progress, and Outstanding and Wise Leaders. The platforms of the Maica-Bhea team

will focus on “the individual growth of the owls [teacher education students]” as well as its effect on the progress of the whole SEd community. These platforms include the following plans: spearheading an organization week for SEd students, initiating tree planting activities/clean-up drives, tutoring and organizing different seminars, doing some fundraising activities, maximizing the use of social media, nurturing professionalism and individual growth among CSC officers, establishing a committee for the non-council SEd aspiring leaders and many more. On the other hand, the Student empowerment enhancing student’s Initiative through New programs and activities guided by Legislative actions of Accountable leaders toward Good Governance (SINLAG) party targets “to lead with the heart and to act with the mind”. Their platforms were divided into three: ViDang – ViDa Ka!, ViDang – ViDa Ka sa Galing!

and ViDang – ViDa Ka sa Malasakit! With the ViDa team, ‘ViDang – ViDa Ka!’ includes the planned ‘Eduk Merchandise’, generating semestral funds and spearheading ‘Eduk Na Ako’, which is a welcome celebration for incoming first year students. Moreover, ‘ViDang – ViDa Ka sa Galing!’ consists of a planned LET Review for Teacher Education Students, Research Writing Training, Fellow Educator Leadership Training and the Maestro ng Kabataan: The Eduk Convention 2021. On the other hand, ‘ViDang – ViDa Ka sa Malasakit!’ involves a planned talk on Global Citizenship Education, a Monthly Assessment for Teacher Education Students (MATES), an Inclusive Week which involves three seminars, and the Integration of the Sustainable Development Goals Plan which will be divided into two: Build the Goal and Act towards the Goal. A set of panel as well as the audiences will be given the chance to ask further questions regarding these platforms on the ‘Pagkilala sa mga Kandidato’ which will be held at PGN 311.
