RADLearning faces complaints,

Southwestern University PHINMA introduced in August 3, 2020 the Remote and Distance Learning—a setup designed for independent learning that promises a strong learning support system through the use of Google Classroom and consultation with teachers and classmates through Messenger chat or call. However, despite the efforts of the university
to provide the education students need, some students cry foul to the substandard and inefficient learning method the institution has been using for the past four semesters. Challenges Encountered The abrupt changes in the learning modality in order to adapt to the on-going pandemic has left many challenges to both students and teaching staff. In an interview with The
Quill, Cher Moselle Cabahug, a second-year Pharmacy student, shared that the modular and fast-paced nature of RADL puts them at a disadvantage. “Many students, including me, still had a hard time with this set-up even though we’re at our second year. The fact that not everyone can catch up with how fast it is, little to no discussions, and we have to only depend on our
modules,” she explained. Cabahug’s fast-paced remark on RADL is in relation to the division of the semester into four blocks, wherein one block made-up of two to three subjects is only given a month to accomplish. In a separate interview, Zel (not her real name), a thirdyear Dentistry student, also expressed her frustrations towards RadLearning. “My course necessitates
hands-on exposure in order to truly grasp a concept. It is insufficient to read from our modules and watch videos from YouTube,” she said. “RadLearning should not be modified but rather redesigned in a way that is beneficial to students,” she added.
